Okay so I got offered a job back in New Hampshire and I have to take it even though I kind of don't want to, not because I don't want the job, but because I don't want to be back in New Hampshire. I'm frustrated because I can't find a place to live. I start in a week and I still don't even have a plane ticket back there, let alone a place to sleep ( Read more... )

Dude! I had completely forgotten that you started "Small Gods" we didn't talk about it at all! I'm glad you like it :) It's the first of his book you've read in the 'Discworld' series, right? Not to confusing, I hope? Do you plan to read more of them?

Aren't there like 25 books in the Discworld series? I do plan on reading some more, probably. I don't know. We'll see. I loved that the monks had to observe something in order for it to become history. Because how simplistically true is that. And also amusing, that they drop in and out of places and times just to observe something so that it can be considered history. I mean, we don't really think of history in those terms very much ourselves, but it is true that if something isn't observed and shared with others, it doesn't become part of history because everyone forgets about it. Anyway, yes it was my first Discworld book and no it wasn't too confusing, but I didn't really think there was a lot about the Discworld universe in general in the plot that would make it confusing. Like, any world-building had already been done because it was number 13 or something in the series. It was like being dropped right into the middle of a universe, seeing a story play out, then leaving again. And yeah, I could tell it was a different universe, ( ... )

LOLOL, there are like 40 books in the Discworld series by now. The History Monks show up in one other book, "Night Watch", which is supposed to be one of the really good ones but I haven't gotten to it yet in my chronological re-through. Another good one to try is "Going Postal". It introduces a new character, Moist von Lipwig, who has to try and re-build the postal system in Ankh-Morpork. It is HILARIOUS ( ... )

Ugh, I'd like to be offered a job too! XD
I love those photos! I hope I'll be able to visit the US one day so I can see those beautiful places in person :)

I agree with you about SPN. I marathoned S8 just after it ended - though I think I skipped a few episodes of the first half of the season, lol - and I ended up loving the second half! So I hope S9 will be good :) I have completely abadoned The Mentalist, although Tumblr is making me curious about S6, so if I have time I might watch it later this year - in the Christmas hiatus maybe, but I'd start directly with S6 anyway, lol. And I love Sleepy Hollow! Don't watch it in the middle of the night, it's scary!

I hope you get to visit the US some day too! Course this country is so dang big that visiting all of it in one trip is basically impossible, but there are some main sights that are must-sees. I'm partial to the west coast, of course, because that's where I'm from, but the east coast is good too. :D ( ... )

I hope so too! There are so many places I'd love to see :D

LOL. But I marathoned SPN because 1) many people said that it was really good, so I thought I'd give it a chance, and 2) I will never abandon this show, it's too important to me ♥
I saw the premiere and I loved it! I am really bored by the whole angels storyline - starting with Cas - but I guess I have to accept it's gonna be a part of the show for a long time, given the title card :P oh well, I could skip all those scenes, hehe.

About The Mentalist, I think I am mostly influenced by the whole Jisbon stuff that's been going on and that I don't approve of, lol. And maybe that's what's keeping me from getting invested in the show again. But idk, maybe I'll just read the Wikipedia summaries and see if there are some episodes that seem interesting and I'll give the show another chance. Maybe. One day.
