There is rehearsal footage of both. As for *that* scene, it's an edited version - I know there's full version of the rehearsal of that scene online, but that was a while back and I'm not sure if it has since been taken down.
Also in TDK, the sound was removed for Komu's solo dance and for part of the beginning of *that* scene, but it starts up with Keiko-sama singing at the beginning of that scene.
I recommend getting it. Though I still don't understand Blue Bird, TDK is too much of an amazing revue to pass up. If you don't mind the squee, I wrote a review a while back and so has galynthiahere. (The latter might be locked though.)
Argh...I'm really going to miss the sound for Komu's solo dance...the sky stage TV version of that scene was online a while back so I know what music should be playing, but still...*sigh* BTW, I read your review and...I think this needs to be bought, even if I only really care for the revue. xD Thanks for helping. :D ...Oh, and just to verify: is it true that there are no alternate camera angles? You wrote something like that in your review...
I own the DVD, and there's no alternative camera angles on mine. But I also chime in the idea that it's worth buying, because most of the music is there, it's just a moment lost for Komu's opening dance with the couch.
Also, isn't it only the first half of Komu's solo dance that's silent? I can't find my DVD right now, but I want to say that the second half of that dance solo had music. Then a moment of silence, then Keiko-sama sings and Tom comes in...
Takarazuka Dream Kingdom is an absolutely amazing revue and definitely on my top three of Komu-era revues, only surpassed by Les Collages and Joyful!!
As for Blue Bird - it's an acquired taste. I still don't really love it, but Tom and Maachan do make a fantastic "top" combi and Kashi/Tonami are absolutely priceless in their sanbante otokoyaku/nibante musumeyaku combi.
Not to mention Kimu playing Simone. Funniest. Thing. Ever.
Now I'm even curious for Blue Bird, though I only got interested in the DVD for the revue section. But who knows - maybe I'll like Blue Bird even if I won't understand what's going on. xD Oh, and I think Joyful!! will be next on my list of revues I need to have.^^ Thanks for your encouragement! :D
This was the first DVD of a regular show that I bought ... and I must admit the youtube videos of *that* dance helped with that decision, so perhaps I know that feeling :o) I believe your questions are already answered, so I'll only tell you that I was pleasantly surprised when I watched the rest of the DVD. I don't understand Japanese, so Blue Bird is somewhat puzzling *ahem*, but there are enough funny bits to watch it as well (for me,at least). As for the revue, one of my favourite scenes is the very end with Tom in plumage coming down the stairs to meet beaming fangirl!Komu and just having to smile back ... I certainly didn't regret buying that DVD. So hurry, get it already. You were going to do so anyway, right? See.
Yes, after having seen *that* dance ("the-dance-which-must-not-be-named"), I decided that this was my favorite revue, no matter how the rest of it actually looked. xD I'm on my way then....oooh, I'm SO looking forward to it! :D And yes, you were right, I guess. I was going to buy it anyway, I just needed people to tell me it was alright and perfectly sensible.^^
It's clear I don't need to tell you why you should get the DVD for the revue's sake, but I def think you shouldn't think that Blue Bird is a bad show in any way! I actually love, love, love it. It's so funny and silly and just awesome. Yes, the story can be a little bit confusing, but seeing Keichan pick Komu up, or pretends she's an old lady, or schoolboyKitarou picking on schoolboyKoma and pretending to be shorter than Hamako and just... OH. So much crack, so much fun. ♥ Or Kashi licking whipped cream off Tonami's face, Tonami freaking out over finding Maachans hair on Komu's suit, Tonami running around and falling over in a weddingdress everywhere, drag-queen otokoyakuRedRidingHood and just... OH. Everything! ♥
