I think it was a series called "Japanorama" At least up until a while ago the whole thing ws up on Youtube in case you're interested in watching. Each program focussed on a different aspect of Japanese culture eg love, romance, sex but a lot of it relied on the whole outmoded "inscrutable Japanese" idea and smacks a bit of exotic Orientalism. But a fun and enjoyable TV show nonetheless! :-)
