yeah it's things that need to be said because some people don't realize or just don't fucking get it at all and that's just embarrassing to anyone who is a fan.
If I had to write this I would only be able to say "dear ableist, racist, sex-shaming and simultaneously flippant about rape (???), moniker-happy, ridiculous and embarrassing majority of fandom, leave," before imploding in rage, so you win all the prizes
I didn't know about the car accident, omg :'( but I heard someone hugged Kyungsoo in London? jfc it's impossible to stay away from stalker media too, stay classy fandom
lol with the way fandom has been going I'm pretty sure I'll have enough things for a part 2 soon. pretty sure I left things off but there's too many thing to get them all in one post.
thanks! I'm actually quite proud of myself I didn't straight up tell anyone to go kill themselves and that there aren't more death threats within this post because seriously people. what is wrong with all of them who gave them the right to exist?
I think I heard about the accident previously but hearing about how k cried makes it worse. and wow seriously? poor kyungsoo! :( and omg ikr I hated myself as looked at all the disneyland/london footage! it's completely unavoidable.
Is there a proper source on that information (specifically about K crying)? tbh a good third of the information that comes out is false; EXO fandom (mostly Chinese and international, tbh) is really untrustworthy. Like the "Sehun never knew what true friendship was until he met Lu Han" thing is still being spread around when it's completely false and wow, how highly do you regard him if you think he had no friends before the age of eighteen.
And like you mentioned, the double standards on stalking are awful; it's impossible to stay up to date without running into gifs, pictures, and videos sourced from stalking, especially on tumblr. Honestly, there are enough legitimate activities that people can see them regularly without resorting to stalking, and the extra information/media really isn't necessary ("necessary"...) by any stretch considering there is so much already. The "once in a lifetime" excuse makes me so angry, honestly, like were you really waiting your whole life to make your stalker debut? and if it weren't enough just to
( ... )
Tbh I'm not really sure about K crying thing (actually know I think about it...where you to know even know that they did) but an almost car accident seems legitimate, especially with the way fans have behaving. Thought I'd just mention it anyway to show that these behaviors are affecting the boys negatively
( ... )
Thank you so fucking much for doing this. Seriously.
The Thehun thing has been bothering me for awhile. At first, I was kind of like, okay, this is sort of like friendly ribbing, but then it just got way out of hand. And the more I thought about it, the more I realised that it was really shit of fangirls to be making fun of something that Sehun has no control over. And, just, asdjaa. The whole Thehun thing needs to stop.
And the Kai is a slut thing. FUCKING HELL, THAT MADE ME SO ANGRY. I remember reading that interview and feeling so, so upset, because I have always loved his stage presence, but knowing that he wasn't comfortable with it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. SM has always been dub-con in my mind, and it just made me so sad that Kai wasn't comfortable, because I love his off-stage persona even more. And I can't believe people would call him a slut, forget about calling him a slut to his face, because that is just not something you do, not if you are a decent human being
( ... )
I'm glad you liked it! These things really fucking do need to be stated and I think I should start spreading the post around too. At first I wasn't bold enough to but I really do think more people need to see this because fandom's general behavior is not ok
( ... )
I think you should; there'll be some butthurt from some fans, but I think the majority of the fandom will appreciate it.
I'm actually really ashamed that I ever found it even slightly amusing. At least I realised that it really was not funny at all, but some people are still doing it, and it's genuinely ridiculous. And I can't believe a fan actually shouted it at him. A lot of the English fans were arguing that he smiled about it, but I was like, "What the fuck else would he have done? He's a rookie idol: he can't stand up for himself quite just yet."
Jongin hate genuinely makes no sense. It's just. I want to shake them because come on, he's so endearing
( ... )
Yeah idc if they get butthurt or dub me a bitch or whatever but I don't really want internet attacks though I'll be laughing at them if they do because reallyOne of my friends was exactly the same way too. I pointed it out to her and now she thinks it's really rude and offensive as well. AND OMG JUST BECAUSE HE SMILED DOESN'T MEAN SHIT. There could be lots of hidden emotions behind that smile that fans don't know about. And yes what other choice did he have? These are fans; he can't really tell them to fuck off and die like I would've wanted to
( ... )
I think the problem with exo fandom is the speed at which information is transmitted. Photos and news spreads like wildfire on tumblr. We also need to realize that behind the spazzing and capslock lies some younger fans who don't understand how offensive and wrong their actions and words seem. There's an alarming display of gang mentality that's hard to control, especially on tumblr. I think you're right in making these points though. All we can really do is call people out for their sheer insensitivity and act maturely in a way that will make other fans realize that it decency matters, even in fandom.
There are just... so many things inherently wrong with fandom and yes those are some of them. I don't want to be ageist and say it's just the younger fans doing it because that's probably not true - there probably is an alarming number of older fans who just don't know any better either.
You're right these things need to be pointed out because otherwise people will never know. And well someone has to step out and say them. Decency should always matter; I don't get why people would think it doesn't.
thank you! everything about this -- you pointed out most of my pet peeves in fandom. (well, the nickname thing is fine with me in the sense that it doesn't make me rage, but honestly it's getting pretty old so i guess it'll join my list of annoyances soon.)
i've been uncomfortable about people joking about sehun's lisp since the day i knew about it. ngl his lisp is cute and endearing yet it's barely even noticeable imo. so what you wrote about there about it -- thank you sfm.
"kai is a slut!" "i hate kai that cocky rude arrogant bratty bastard!"
THESE TWO ESPECIALLY OH MY GOD i can't even anymore with people who just hate jongin because he ~shows too much skin~ or ~he has too many teasers~ like ok wow get out please B|
No problem! I have a lot of frustrations against fandom as you can see so it was nice to let it out and see that people appreciate the sentiment. The nickname thing has always annoyed me, but yes it's getting really old now and is only going to get worse soon SIGH.
Yes I've been annoyed and offended as soon as people began making fun of Sehun's lisp. It's fucking insulting and not funny. It's so ableist I cannot believe people think it's acceptable.
THOSE ARE THE WORST REASONS ANYONE COULD HATE JONGIN FOR. WOW IT'S NOT EVEN HIS FUCKING CHOICE AND YET YOU HATE THE BOY FOR IT? 8( God help us all there's no humanity left in this world.
