Such a beautiful fic and very appropriate to honor the memory of our beloved Uther. I hope that Uther continues to visit Gaius in his dreams from time to time until they can be together again! I also enjoyed the mention of Igraine. The show really needs to do a prequel where they are all happy and together and in love!
Oh hisashiburi since I saw that beautiful icon! I agree there should be an "Uther and Gaius and Igraine in the past being all happy and loving and sexing together" episode. Yes.
;___________; Way to remind me when I was just successfully managing to block out last night's ep, you. U/G is just not for me, I'm afraid, but I did still tear up. A lot. D: ♥
Ah, this is so beautiful. ♥ It actually hit me harder than the episode did...I was surprised/disappointed that Uther didn't get any last words with anyone besides Arthur (um, GAIUS??? Morgana??? Gwen??? Even Merlin???).
I love how Gaius keeps thinking Uther wasn't supposed to die first...but of course, which one of them is cautious and which one barrels headfirst into danger at every opportunity? Oh, Gaius. Oh, Uther.
So glad you liked this! I had to give these two, as my most favourite Merlin pairing, a proper send off. They really didn't get enough of one in the episode itself...
It's funny, in that episode, in the scene where Gaius left Merlin sitting to wait for Arthur, I was actually watching Gaius' back as he was walking away, looking for some indication of him trying to hold back his grieving for Uther...if that makes sense. I definitely wish they had at least one scene of Gaius' POV of the death of Uther. So long story short, I've been waiting for someone to write a fic about this! And thank you for writing such a beautiful piece of work, I definitely teared up! Also, the parallels of Merlin/Arthur's and (past)Gaius/Uther's relationships is definitely something I've had thoughts about so I'm glad you included it in your fic. Great job! :)
Thanks, and thank you for reading! These two are my favourite and I couldn't let them go without writing something for them. I'm really glad this worked so well, though I was sad even writing it.
