My last journal entry was June 2007 - over four years ago. At the time, I was feeling kinda weary about Livejournal. I didn't have much confidence in my creative skills. And I wasn't sure where I stood in visual novel and romance game fandom ( Read more... )

welcome back. it's been a while.
At least a better selection of games to choose from from the visual novel that are translated now.

Very true. I've been active in fandom all this time, and I've noticed a number of impressive translated and originally-in-English VNs/games.

I still can't get into orginally in english games.
Only one that stood out to me is Kawata Shoujo.

There are several western VNs which I've read that didn't seem written well. (I won't name examples.) And most creators are working with a minimal budget, or no budget at all.

But yeah, Sturgeon's Law is true for any type, category, or style of media. Ninety percent of everything is crud, regardless of where, when, or how it was made.
