OKAY. It's just possible I can finally do this somewhat properly, now. (Yesterday was unhelpful, although it did contain friends, cake and The Birdcage and now today there is bacon and Firefly. My life is not the worst it could be.)

Although it's still hard to know where to start. There's SO MUCH. This isn't going to be THAT much more coherent than the last, because my head is in like five different places right now. Just so you know. (Also, I know you've been part of Team Say Yes - or at least Team Activate Powers - for a long time, but how long has that included Dean? Cos DAMN LADY. You went to town with this one!)

Okay, first off - I know this was Dean's chapter to see that he needed to step up and all of that, but you did a really good job with fading Sam in and out in a way that genuinely made me uneasy. I mean, he's been such a juggernaut so far in the story, just rollng through it all knowing what and how and PWNing it all, that all of a sudden his vulnerability is really unsettling. Very well done. (Seriously those cat gifs ( ... )

On that subject. ALASTAIR. I'm still sorting through that whole bit, because it's so damn twisty in what it's saying and what's going on. In the good bad fascinating way. I love that Alastair's pissed that Sam was the one to truly carve Dean into a new animal (and makes the rivalry thing EVEN MORE awesomely twisted), to make him something other than human, and how he tries to take some of the credit back for himself by saying Dean said yes even though he didn't really, although he kinda did, and it's all just GAH. (Also, Al? OF COURSE it was Sam. Do you even know these guys? Only adamantium can impact adamantium and only family can impact family and only Winchester can impact Winchester. GET WITH THE PROGRAM. Fail.)

The thing that I'm basically stuck on, turning over and over again in my head, is that Al turned Dean's skin into "Sam". I mean, I get the whole saying yes thing and all of that (and liked the way you played that), but it's the using Dean's skin part that I don't yet know how to weigh in story/symbolism terms. I mean, is ( ... )

OH HAI! (And also YAY FIREFLY)

Although it's still hard to know where to start. There's SO MUCH.

HEEEHEEE. Yeah, this chapter is like a 7-layer salad. Made of yucky grossness.

Also, I know you've been part of Team Say Yes - or at least Team Activate Powers - for a long time, but how long has that included Dean?FOREVER!!!!11!! It is in episode reviews a LOT more than it is in my fic, though. But all of the s5 reviews must mention Dean's latent powers at least once per review. I am firmly of the belief that Sam's powers are inherent and not demon-given, because they mirror the powers than an angel has (TK, visions, demon killing power) and not those that a demon has. As such, I am furthermore of the belief that since Heaven arranged John and Mary's marriage, and since Dean is Sam's blood, Dean has the same potential as Sam. Blacklid and I both view them as equals. She says that Sam isn't any more special or gifted or singled out than Dean is, and that's canon. People just don't see it that way because it isn't stated nearly as ( ... )

“Come on,” he whispers through clenched jaws, “don’t make me beg.”

Icwydt and it is awesome.

Dean weeps bitterly, and the salt from his impossible tears stings his bare cheeks while he whispers again and again through his sobs, yes, but there is no one there to hear.

Sam cuts him off, quiet but firm, and none of the gentleness remains, only implacable determination. “I always try to stay awake.”

♥ ♥ ♥

Sam dying over and over here, Dean dying over and over in Hell. I love the way you've highlighted the similar nature of their struggles with eternal torment. And that pesky YES, that everyone keeps trying to pull from them. Oh! And Dean's immortality comes from Sam, and just, gah, so many layers, damn. You are writing straight to my sweet spot. Um, I'm not sure what that says about either of us. o.O

Also? On a totally shallow note, how is Dean using demon powers so sexy? And what is wrong with me that I think it is? Don't answer that.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, yay thank you! I'm glad the layers are showing. :) There are so many in canon that even when you try to twist it they are completely unavoidable.

Heheeh .... let's just not think about it too hard, yes? ^.^
