DEAR MY FLIST

Oct 07, 2011 16:23

Someone asked me for a reason that I think Sam and Dean are still watchable characters that has nothing to do with them being hot. I had a lot of reasons lined up, but then I realized that isn't the issue. Obviously this person has fallen out of love. That's okay, it happens. (Both in real life and in fandoms, of course.) The thing is, someone else ( Read more... )

Dean is loyal and family centered. He believes in saving that one person and that its worth it. He knows family dont end with blood. He said no to Michael.

Sam is flawed and damned but he never stops fighting the good fight. He is less proan to giving up, stubborn, and strong willed. He cares for the good of all. He said yes to Lucifer knowing it would send him to hell forever.

Both brothers said no to destiny and a cosmic plot as old as time. Both proved to be stronger than any monster imagined.

Together they seem able to defeat anything. No wonder why the leviathan want to take them out. Their the ones to watch out for.

And its pretty cool they are the chosen vessels for the archangel brothers.

I have always loved the strength of their mythology. Doesn't get much bigger than that, does it?

The reason I can't quit Dean is : my husband is SO much like him

The reason I can't quit Sam is: I identify with him So much. Every bad decision he makes is the same one I'd make if in the same situation. Also Sam + demon blood makes me very, very happy in the pants

The reason SamnDean still own me is: they're EPIC

The reason I can't quit Dean is because his struggle is ultimately that of someone who has great difficulty showing need for those he loves, and he understands how to provide support and not so much how to be provided with it. It creates a deep and almost secretive desire inside me to root for, empathize with and comfort him, especially as someone faced with a similar problem.

YES. The need to root for Dean is strong indeed. For me, it is to the point where not watching any more would feel like abandoning a friend when they needed me the most.

The reason I can't quit Dean is : He's just now beginning to learn that he has a role outside of hunter/brother/protector of Sam/martyr to the cause. He has so much untapped potential that I am eager to see realized. :) Also, you know what I love? That after Hell and everything he's been through, in spite of the crippling depression, Dean still finds things to get excited about: porn and pie and Westerns and Star Trek, and they all make him gleeful like a little kid ( ... )

DEEEEAN. That dichotomy of killer and innocent is such a fine line to play. We are so blessed to have Jensen. :)

Sam - I want to see that, too, for both of them to realize their full worth and potential. I refuse to stop watching, I refuse to let it be over until that happens.

Thanks babe!

I NEED to see Sam and Dean achieve some peace as reward for what they have sacrificed for the rest of us. I keep watching in hopes they will catch a break.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to end up with a broken heart when the show ends, though, that the boys will never get the happiness they deserve.

I cling to the theme song. :)

Oh, I feel so betrayed by Kripke using 'Wayward Son' for episode 5.22--because there was NO 'peace when you are done!' And I personally think they should have picked a new signature song to end season 6, because clearly Dean is never going to find peace! (I am irrationally bitter about how that song's use misled me.)

You can't say that, though. They aren't done yet. ;)
