Ficmeme

Happy New Year! Every year I do this fic meme to sort of keep track of my writing and stuff and things. :) Lol, my word count is progressively dropping, looks like. Hmm.

December 08 meme : Word count - 120,639
December 09 meme : Word count -  54,496

December 10 meme : Word count - 38,050

(If you don't count Unbreakable, the fic I co-wrote with blacklid. If you do count it, it comes out to 51,323, but I figure I only wrote half of it, so eh, technicalities. All previous years the word counts are mine alone, so I'd say overall, that's another big drop. I was busy this year with dragon con stuff and didn't do a big bang, which accounts for a lot of it. Also this year we started spnquotefic , so most of my fics ended up being short little comment fics for that, which has been a blast so far! Anyway, enough excuses, lol.)

On to the meme!

This year I'm going to be adding/altering a few questions, b/c I don't find these questions all particularly suited for Supernatural fic. *ETA: I only changed one. Huh.

My favorite story this year (of my own):

Out of all of them, (And I had some episode tags the last two seasons that I REALLY love,) but the one I have to say is my favorite (and spawned a gigantic sequel of doom) has to be Repo Men. It was ridiculously fun to write, and I was 100% thrilled with how it came out. A lot of the time when I'm writing I just picture a scene in my head and let it flow out and it doesn't take much extra thought, but Repo Men was a carefully constructed twist!fic, and I took a lot of darkly gleeful joy in putting the pieces together. :)

My best story this year:

I'd say it's a tie between last season's MBV tag, Trial of a Righteous Man, or the Appointment in Samarra tag, Temet Nosce. Ironically, they are both hiatus episode tags. I wonder if that means anything?

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

Rage Against. Nobody appreciates a good death fic these days. *emo sigh*

Most fun story:

I think Smoking Aces is fun. It's nice to play with other characters every once in a while.

Most suspenseful story:

Mirror Mask. I have a lot of tiny ficlets that have a lot of suspense packed into a small amount of time, but Mirror Mask holds it well all the way throughout. I enjoyed going back after and reading it again.

Story with single sexiest moment:

Repo Men: The Upside Down Apocalypse (wip) has some Sam/Ruby interaction in chapter 3, and I find Sam/Ruby to be incendiary, so without spoiling anything I will say that it is in there. :)

Story with single sweetest moment:

May 2, 2015. I gave Sam a puppy for his birthday.

Most unintentionally *telling* story:

Lol. I don't like telling, I like to be stealthy; but sometimes I do write a fic with a specific agenda in mind, and Veritas, my Swap Meat tag, was one of those. I get sick of fandom wanking one of the boys to death over things (In this case, Dean not knowing that the guy he was with wasn't Sam.) sometimes, and every now and then instead of me arguing for them with my voice I try to let the character state their case for themselves. Sometimes it works. :)

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story:

NO QUESTION, Repo Men. If you haven't read it, then I can't explain it. If you read it, you'll know why.

Most disappointing story:

Honestly? If I'm disappointed in a story, it ends up in the recycle bin. I don't post what I'm not happy with. I've scrapped a lot of half-finished plot bunnies this year that I thought weren't strong enough, but I don't think I've posted anything I wasn't happy about.

Hardest story to write:

I think Iron Man. It reads smoothly and simply, but past-tense has gotten really hard for me, so it took a lot of editing. Very happy with the way it turned out, though. One of my favorites.

Easiest story to write:

Probably I Tell You, my Swan Song tag. I just made up a dude and started streaming him. I barely remember writing it and it probably took 20 minutes, tops. Of course it was my most popular one-shot this year. Go figure. It made me smile several months later that Sam mentioned waking up in that field in the rain, alone.

This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most:

This year was all about family, in real life and in Show. One of the biggest things I've learned to trust in this year is that my best friends are just as much (and sometimes more) family to me as my blood, and I don't know what I'd do without even just one of them. Y'all know who you are. *blows kisses*

Without a doubt, the story we are most proud of this year is the one thing we finally did together, Unbreakable, and it is the most fitting choice, as it is all about family. :)

Thanks to everyone who has been reading and commenting and helping encourage me this year. I love you guys!
