Turning a corner and finding a big Siberian glaring at the air-ducts took getting used to.

Lev Petrovich was long since used to it, between the horse and the Siberian in question. "What's going on?"

"Can you hear it?" Sascha asked, not looking away from the duct.

Now that he thought about it, he could hear a very faint knocking sound, somewhere in the wall. "... I think so?"

"Damn. I was hoping I was hearing things. I just put that panel back together last week." Sascha tried whacking the wall with an open hand, which echoed several times before the knocking came back, slightly louder.

"I'll go grab the toolbox," Lev Petrovich said resignedly. "Sounds like something worked itself loose."
