'This is going to suck,' he had time to think as his wet foot hit the polished marble and slipped, body torn between trying to flail out and catch himself and curl in to try to minimise the contact with unforgiving stone.

He ended up half-twisted, taking the impact along the outside of his thigh and knee, but missed whacking any of his joints directly. Bruises, sure, but no breaks.

He let himself flop down fully, stretch out the leg, and breathe. 'Note to self: avoid dating women with overly expensive houses.'
