Chapter 7

“Jaejoong-hyung, Yunho-hyung! We thought you guys might want to sleep in the room in the back since Yunho’s not drinking so you might want to go to bed earlier than us… Then you won’t be disturbed when we get in later,” Junsu shouts at them the moment they enter the guesthouse that the twins had informed them about through phone earlier.

Yunho feels like cringing at the sleep arrangements, and he’s not even sure why; he has shared more intimate spaces with Jaejoong before, a car just the night before for instance.

“Yunho-yah! I need to put the pork belly into the freezer so that I can cut it properly later, get your ass here already,” Jaejoong shouts through the kitchen door and Yunho can see a flailing hand beckoning for him through the doorway. He gathers the plastic bags he has set down on the entranceway floor and kicks the flip-flops off his feet, sliding on the blue slippers waiting on the step. He hurries to the kitchen, leaving Junsu and his smirk, both deliberately ignored, into the living room.

“Yunho-yah, put these into the fridge, I gotta go check on the grill!” Jaejoong instructs and shoves two more plastic bags into Yunho’s reluctant arms, tugging his saggy denims up as he dashes out of the door. Before Yunho can heave out the sigh he has been holding back, the older man’s head peeks back in through the frame, firm eyes pointedly cast on him.

“And don’t forget to put the pork belly in the freezer!”

Yunho nods wordlessly and receives a dashing smile as an answer before Jaejoong returns to his quest of inspecting the cooking grounds.

Junsu stalks into the kitchen to help Yunho with the groceries, his water drop-shaped eyes scanning over the amount of food, incredulous.

“Hyung, are we really eating all of this, the four of us?”

“I guess so,” Yunho says, opening an egg box to check if any had broken during their way back from the supermarket.

Junsu stares at him and Yunho wonders if it’s Jaejoong’s influence. He feels like his life contains a lot more staring lately, from his part and from others too, ever since the man entered his life.

“Don’t blame me, I was only pushing the trolley okay,” he defends himself, holding the fridge door open to place the eggs inside.

“NO WAY MAN,” he hears a loud exclamation from outside, and since he’s positive the voice belongs to Jaejoong he barely manages not to drop the eggs on the floor before he is rushing out to the patio with Junsu in tow, an odd lettuce forgotten in one of his hands.

Only to be faced with a sight of Jaejoong hanging onto the neck of a man of roughly similar height and build as himself, with short dark brown hair that sticks to the edges of his cap.

Jaejoong is clearly saying something but his speech is way too fast for Yunho’s brain to register its contents and at any rate, all his attention is on the other man whose eyes are shifting back and forth, between Yunho and the man holding him captive in the iron grip of his toned arms.

“So, the vegetable man is this Yunho I’ve been hearing about?” he suggests, interrupting Jaejoong’s waterfall of speech and leers at Yunho over Jaejoong’s head, making him immediately cast his eyes down to study the edible plant in his hands. He doesn’t know whether to feel happy that Jaejoong has apparently felt the need to mention him in his text messages, or sad that he has evidently met the reason to Jaejoong’s sudden disappearances.

Hearing the man’s remark, Jaejoong detaches himself from his neck and slaps his shoulder.

“Yoochun-ah, you bastard, you could’ve at least told me you were going to be here too!”

“Well how was I supposed to know that you were going to be here? Someone didn’t bother to answer my texts this morning…” Yoochun answers and walks over to Yunho, leaving Jaejoong gape after him with obvious trouble to come up with a comeback. Yunho feels defeated; he has never managed to render Jaejoong into such a state.

“Since my best friend here has apparently suddenly forgot all his manners, let me introduce myself to you… Park Yoochun, Jaejoongie-hyung’s best buddy,” he speaks with a lopsided smile Yunho might almost call a smirk. Yunho tosses the lettuce between his hands for a second before snapping out of his stupor to grab Yoochun’s outstretched hand and shake it.

“Jung Yunho,” he answers, just in time for Jaejoong who has recomposed himself and is rushing towards them, latching himself onto Yoochun for a second time.

“You know full well why I didn’t answer you, you fucker!”

Disregarding of his friend’s behaviour, Yoochun turns to Junsu who is spectating the show with wide eyes.

“And you might be…?”

“Kim Junsu,” Junsu gets out fast, impressively fast if anyone would bother to ask Yunho. At least himself, Yunho has had a few days to get used to Jaejoong and the hazardous occurrences following him around.

“He’s my new, adorable dongsaeng, fulfilling all the obligations required of a dongsaeng your lame ass is unable to,” Jaejoong chimes in, finally releasing Yoochun from his embrace. “He also has a twin and the two combined, their adorableness level beats your pathetic ass by a million!”

“Dunno about my own ass but his certainly isn’t lame or pathetic,” Yoochun agrees offhandedly, shifting his leering from Yunho to Junsu. “Are you identical twins? Nice genes to have as a double set, I mean.”

Junsu gives him an incredulous stare, rendered speechless by the strange man’s guts, and quickly retires inside, backing off before doing a quick turn and dashing inside through the patio door. Yunho cannot contain his chuckle when he hears the loud “Hyung!” screech from inside and meets Yoochun’s eyes to see the other man is just as amused.

Jaejoong eyes them both disapprovingly.

“Did you come here just to scare off my new friends?” he asks and hits Yoochun’s shoulder again. Yoochun winces and holds his shoulder, looking at Jaejoong with accusation in his playful eyes.

“Just because Changmin isn’t here, it doesn’t mean you need to take out your need to abuse people on me,” he says, walking to a wooden chair and flopping down onto it. “Besides, in fact, he is here. So save your beatings for the overgrown cookie monster.”

“What?” Jaejoong screeches imitating Junsu’s tone from just seconds earlier. “How did you guys even… I don’t even… Why are you here?!”

“Calm yourself down man! You and I, we met here purely by coincidence,” Yoochun answers, amused at Jaejoong’s astonishment that knows no limits. “You didn’t answer me this morning so we decided to continue on our own and ignore you from now on. We came here a few hours ago, we are crashing in the room above you guys’ for tonight… I swear on my little brother’s university fees that I had no idea you were going to be here with your new fellowship of the sea.”

Jaejoong looks at him for a few seconds before turning on his heels, racing up the small staircase on the side of the house and banging on the door there. Before long, Yunho can hear a surprised exclamation right after someone opens the door.

“Hyung! Why are you he-Ouch! …What did I deserve that for! Ouch! Hyung!”

It takes Yunho some time to get over Jaejoong’s newly revealed violent tendencies and the fact that he can act so surprised at people randomly appearing, when Yunho firmly believes he has had to endure way worse with Jaejoong’s own disappearing tricks. When they get a moment alone, he actually questions Yoochun about the man’s best friend’s naked escapades but Yoochun only chortles until he almost chokes and says he has no idea what had happened.

Yunho has also been introduced to Changmin whom Jaejoong had dragged down by the neckline of his t-shirt and tried to beat into confessing to some kind of conspiracy behind their meeting. After the lanky young man reveals his age to be the youngest out of the odd group of men, Junsu is finally coaxed out of his safe haven followed by his twin, his face lighting up as he demands the newcomer to call him hyung as well. Changmin inspects both twins carefully before requiring a birth certificate for his viewing prior to any official declaration taking place. Junho and Junsu both look ready to jump on him and start a fistfight when Jaejoong drags the youngest to the kitchen, babbling something about Changmin’s law studies, the kimchi he bought from the supermarket, its level of fermentation and how he needs Changmin in order to determine some vague fact that Yunho is quite sure has absolutely nothing to do with either kimchi or law.

Yoochun follows the scene with an extremely entertained expression on his face and when Changmin is gone, he offers the twins peer support since he knows exactly how it feels to suffer from Changmin and his insufferable, sceptical attitude. Junsu scoffs but Junho steers his eyes from Yoochun, to his twin looking everywhere but at the new friend, and then back to Yoochun, before grabbing both by their arms and dragging them outside, giving Yunho the excuse of setting up the grill that had been left half-prepared by Jaejoong at the unexpected appearance of his friends.

Yunho stands alone in the middle of the hallway, awkwardly swaying back and forth on the balls of his feet for a moment before he slouches to the kitchen with the lettuce still in his hand.

He meets the most domestic sight of Jaejoong shoving a spoon down Changmin’s throat who, despite his rather strenuous resistance against Jaejoong’s whacking earlier, looks completely amenable to be manhandled now. Jaejoong’s eyes meet his and he flashes Yunho a quick but genuine smile before returning to Changmin. The younger man looks strangely like a little nestling being fed by its parent to Yunho’s eyes.

Until he remembers the fashion in which birds feed their little ones, making shivers run down his spine as he shakes his head to rid it of such a disturbing image.

Jaejoong has already packed all their food into the cupboards and the fridge, and after watching him nag at and take care of his youngest dongsaeng both at the same time, Yunho decides to go check out their room. He has a vague feeling that he and especially Jaejoong are going to be too drunk in a few hours to care of such things as beddings, and he really doesn’t need a flue from sleeping on bare, cold floor right now.

He walks into their room through the one Junsu had claimed for himself and his twin. The moment he turns the doorknob and opens the door, a white mass flattens him onto the floor like a sudden massive snowslide. Air leaves his lungs and Yunho has to take a moment to catch his breath before he sits up under the dog laying contentedly stretched over his whole body, front paws on his shoulders.

“Hey- buddy,” he breathes out, pushing the dog off his lap, marvelling at Jaejoong’s resistance against the tremendous weight of the animal. “I was wondering where you were. I reckon Junho and Junsu locked you in here.”

The dog breathes heavily with its tongue hanging out in the stuffy room, its small, dark eyes steady on Yunho’s. Yunho reaches his hand out to run it over the dog’s forehead and scratch behind its droopy triangular ears. The dog closes one of its eyes with an appreciative sigh, the expression on its face like a lopsided smile.

“Since that makeshift owner of yours has abandoned me for those new frie- …old friends of his, it’s just me and you now buddy,” Yunho says and dusts his pants before getting up and walking to the closet to look for their beddings.

Opening the cabinet doors, he finds two pillows, but only one large blanket and thin mattress. Sighing, he spreads them on the floor next to the wall before he leaves the room to look for an extra set of blankets, a dog that is sniffing carefully at every corner trailing behind him.

A/N: This was an extremely fillerish chapter but the next one is real long and all D: I promise! I just had to introduce YooMin and it took a little longer I thought… I hope it’s not too cliché and boring, I had quite a lot of trouble with this chapter -.-;
