I feel divorced from my mind

Do you think a writer's blogging and his/her writing are necessarily similar? I mean, I know at least several cases where I enjoy reading someone's blog but not her writing (and at least one case where reading someone's blog played a big role in my decrease of interest for her books, but this is a bit different ( Read more... )

How's your fic moving along? In your descriptions, it sounds really exciting *I won't watch PoT, I won't watch PoT: a poor attempt at self-hypnosis*

at least one case where reading someone's blog played a big role in my decrease of interest for her books
But why?

I must finish it today! *cries* And I already have guests. And almost half of the story to go. At least the rough version of one of the PoVs is done: the other is much more external and narrating. ... I don't recommend PoT to people, really: it's very long and has plot problems, though lots of interesting characters, and I read it like a bidungsroman (not everybody agrees).

Because accents shifted. I am slow in analysis, I accept the book as it is given and trust the author - but blog-reading can give such an opinion of the author's opinions and motives that they become much more noticeable in her books.

Aren't all shounen series bidungsromans by definition? I tried to read several chapters of the PoT manga some time ago, but character designs looked too similar for the attention-span-impaired me, so I dropped it. But more and more people are getting into it, wah!

Yeah, some things do get too jarring when you see them become a trend :(

I think they are, yes. ... I only read bits of pieces of manga - shounen manga tires me even more than shoujo since it's difficult to interpret movements. My PoT is mostly anime.

And I finished the damn story!!!

Not just blogging vs other writing - I gave up on one writer's blog and decided to read only their fiction because their witterings were so annoying - but different genres. There are some writers of sff where I like them doing sf but not fantasy, and vice versa, other writers whose fiction I am meh about but whose criticism I enjoy... etc.

Hmm, yes. Not that I read many multigenre writers, but I think I know what you mean.
