My brain and RPfic ideas have this love-hate relationship. "But it's RPfic!" - "But I want to think about those people and make up story ideas!" - "But I can't write such fic, can I?"

Also, I might have just forgotten how to write, except for deadlines (I did manage two fics for Yuletide, after all).

Cross-stitching, as I found out in the last year, turned out to be an unexpectedly social hobby. Especially when you cross-stitch with people you're already friendly with. You chat about buying stuff, choosing projects, and then you come together and sit working and talking about random stuff of randomness ( Read more... )

Do you think a writer's blogging and his/her writing are necessarily similar? I mean, I know at least several cases where I enjoy reading someone's blog but not her writing (and at least one case where reading someone's blog played a big role in my decrease of interest for her books, but this is a bit different ( Read more... )

I wonder if always wanting to write almost exactly the opposite of what I am able to write well is a self-defeating technique.

I can't write strong emotions. I am also not good with strong emotions in RL - but should that be such an obstacle? Text is usually more controllable than life (at least for me).

Then again, if year 2007 gave anything to me, it's a better comprehension of my own writing style. (I remember, ages ago, feeling I couldn't possibly write because I did not have any style. Not only was I not Tolstoy or Dostoevsky; diaries and life stories of lesser - but still real - writers had them working on their style by learning to imitate ( Read more... )
