It makes more sense to sell it and save the money or put it towards paying off the loan faster. Then in the fall go look for something better, if you want to, rather then sinking more money into it to fix it back up.

I went without a car for about 9 months, I live right next to the max. While it was a pain sometimes, it was totally worth it financially. it felt kinda scary but I'm glad I did it, and actually regretting getting another car this early

I say do it, as long as you're not actaully using the jeep, there's no reason to keep it. And in the future, you should be able to get another vehicle with better gas milage and is probably better for the environment anyway.
