Ten Support, Obama, Nano

Alright, so ten_support was a short and failed experiment for me. I'm sad David's leaving, but I'm so bad at keeping my mouth shut when people come up with theories about how he was bullied out of the role by the show runners - what? Seriously, what? He's a money making machine; I'm sure they offered him shitloads of money to stay. - and when they're so ( Read more... )

I completely hear you--and I know that the community can't please everyone. I could try and just go bald pulling out my hair. You and two others left, I suspect due to the talks about being bullied.

We should focus on the squee and less on the bashing of RTD and company, I think.

And yes, layouts are cool. Sorry the community didn't work out for you....

We can still try and make it work. If it doesn't, no harm done, there's enough of fandom out there for everyone to find their comfort zone. :D

Oh gawds. It wasn't anything like that. It's just that some feel that he loved being in the show so much that we don't think it's entirely his idea. I personally do NOT feel that he was bullied but may have been convinced to do so now while people would miss him versus being pushed out the door for overstaying his welcome.

Seriously?! He's more than likely been thinking about this for a very long time, and doing the likes of Hamlet, Love Labours Lost and Einsten and Eddington probably got his moth watering for more roles that were different to the Doctor. He can't stay forever and do a Tom Baker, i.e. stay on for aaaggges and believe he is The Doctor. From my time doing drama (and still doing it now) I understand that as an actor, he needs to challenge himself and add more to his talents and skills. Acting is a learning career, and not one where you can stay in the same spot forever.

I don't think for one moment they would kick their number one actor to the curb. He's huge for the BBC and I sense they were probably less than pleased he wanted to leave. When he brings in the money he does, no one wants to loose someone like him. Especially with the chaos they have being going through recently. 2010 is going to be a testing time for them, what with a whole new writing crew so getting rid of the only constant wouldn't be a good thing for them.

It was his dream job, and we all know he enjoyed it, so yes, seriously! There's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure he left with bittersweet feelings, and I'm sure if there WAS a decision made a while ago, it was made before a) anyone would realize how popular he would be and b) how much he would like the job.

Honestly, I think it would've been a better transition if he stayed on for just one more season under Moffat. A shame that won't happen.

Kicking to the curb is a WAY harsh way of putting it. I don't think anyone believes that. I think that some decisions were reached along the lines of "Doctor Who always means change, and changing the Doctor" and that's what fueled it.

No conspiracy theories here; just looking at the situation from multiple perspectives.
