It's like a boner joke as written by an alien. An alien who has only just learned English. "His penis had become tumescent, thus showing that he was aroused by the sight of Emily without her outer skin coverings."

But remember - nudity is totally nonsexual y'all!

Way to go, Dick the dick. And Caitlin the... I don't know any "clever" nickname for her. Any ideas?

Anyway, I must say that I agree with Tropes finally being cleared out. I didn't think it was too bad until I looked at the Tropes thread in SA and what they had found was quite shocking. Like the Dark Pedophile Draven or some 15-year-old named lolacat or something who was kicked off for being rude to people who were trying advances on her or something. All in all rather disgusting. Makes me wonder if SA ever knew about HG131. He was when I was first disillusioned with Tropes.

But the fact of the matter is that since Tropes isn't Wikipedia, it can't have disgusting things on it anymore. The collective maturity there is too low, especially with all the creeps defending that one animé HG131 compared HE to.

Yes, SA knew about HG131. And about this crap, and I think even about his connection to Hogwarts Exposed.

I don't get it, though. The HE Tropes page was just, I dunno. It wasn't harmful, hell it at least provided stern warnings for those morbidly curious enough to read it...

From what I've gathered, TV Tropes has been getting or is worried they're going to get trouble with Google if there's links to pages that can be seen as pornographic or pedophilic. From the looks of things, they cut a whole bunch of pages, but are going through and putting a few of them back. One of the ones that's almost certainly going back, for example, is Lolita. On the other hand, Kodomo no Jikan's up in the air.

Sadly, I doubt the page for HE will go back up. The main attraction of it is bile fascination, and the mods would probably be nervous about trouble anyway. Still, it had a good run and at least the back-up was saved.

I hate to say this, but being forced to change clothing in a closet doesn't sound like the worst thing ever. And how the fuck are we suppose to think that Emily's going to be pissed about having to be nude? (other then for the OH NOES DRAMA!!!) She now has the perfect way to show to world how awesome it is to be nude! Because every day has a new chance to show those nide-hating prudes just how much they're missing!

It's a slightly peculiar thing to do to eleven-year olds, though.

Though it's easy to forget they're supposed to be eleven. Though I think it'd be far worse if the hypersexualised kids actually were recognisable as kids. Bleurgh.

I'm reminded of a badfic a friend of mine mocked years ago which had the opposite problem. "Wait, this character's seventeen? We've been making paedophile jokes the whole time for a reason, she acts like she's seven!"

A fairly minor Google incident caused Fast Eddie to realise just how rotten some segments of the wiki had decayed. Part of the problem is that it's a growing, very popular site the userbase of which is growing much faster than the moderating support structure; also it had for a lot of things fairly vague policies which was nice before the swarms arrived, and made it clear why strong policies are needed and you can't just run a wiki on the presumption that all of your editors are responsible, sensible people (with the few exceptions being quickly caught out).

I mean, letting people add pages on whatever works they want is a wonderful way of making sure that even the most obscure works get a place in the sun! until you get people adding gushing pages on... paedoshit, is I believe the technical term they've settled on.

But the Hogwarts Exposed page had a rather obvious sort of scathing tone toward the series as a whole. There wasn't any endorsement of pedophilia or other such bullshit...

Why? Going on that page was one of the things I enjoyed immensely, just to snark at the tropes.

True, but they're probably still worried that some idiot will go from there and read the fics and bitch that TV Tropes endorsed or linked to it. (Keep in mind that this is the same reason that the entire So Bad It's Horrible section was removed from TV Tropes, so it's not just HE)

On the upside, it's possible that they'll put the page back but just decide to keep links to the fics off. They were considering doing that for the Nightmare Fuel pages for fanfiction, because they again were concerned that linking to bad fanfiction might give the idea that they promoted it.

Noooo, the HE page is gone!?

But why!?

Because Google and Fast Eddie got worried.
