I hope he isn’t disappointed when our time comes to join.

...when our time comes to join.

...when our time comes to join.

Okay, this time I'll admit it. NO ONE writes things like this in their journal.

It's probably not a coincidence that the way she writes is also the way she talks, the way she thinks and the way everyone else in the fic talks and thinks as well. It's like they all rolled off the same production line.

I write the way I talk, but...NO ONE NORMAL SPEAKS LIKE THAT.

Yay, this part!

Wait... what am I saying?

Ugh, all these years of badfic have adversely affected my mind...

Who is the Charms teacher in this? Is it Flitwick or someone else? I did a text find for his name, including obvious misspellings, and it came up blank.

Don't forget the fact that, appare!ntly, you earn credit by dueling the professor! What? Do they expect you to earn credit through this by, oh I dunno, RUNNING LIKE HELL the whole time and staying alive long enough until the professor goes "okay, credit earned"?

I'm not sure, but I *think* this may be yet another thing that Neil took from the Psychic Serpent trilogy. I'm pretty sure that none of the characters - especially not someone supposed to be a genius - actually thought they were supposed to beat the Professor.

Either that, or he ripped off the bit in OOTP where Harry gets a bonus point for producing a Patronus.

The system seems to be based on the one in Psychic Serpent, but I've not read enough of those fics to know whether it makes more sense there or not.

If this is what the students have to do now in order to get a good grade in class what happens once they hit college? People throw acid spitting lizards at them while the kids are asleep and the students that survive until the end of the semster get a C? If you went into the maze and defeated Medusa you got a B? Half a point off if you turn your teacher into stone.

If the O.W.L.s look like this, I can definitely see why the N.E.W.T.s are nastily exhausting.

Virginity is all-important in the HEverse except when it isn't, so I guess it stands to reason there'd be a virginity-losing ("joining") ceremony.

Rose Potter might sue, though. Then again, they're both naturalists in a way, so for all you know, they're friends.

I just imagined a cafe where all Sues hang out. Ugh, do not go in there!

“Jamie we both know and love Harry. Harry doesn’t have a perverted bone in his body,

Since when? Honestly, even CANON!Harry is sometimes a pervert. He lusts after Cho Chang, Parvati and Ginny (which isn't a sin, for a teenage boy, that goes without saying)-and HE!Harry hasn't stopped talking about 11 year olds with no panties since sometime, I think, around chapter 5? Also, the fact that he's afraid to touch Jamie clearly proves the opposite-he IS perverted and he knows it, hence why he doesn't do it.

but he also likes to win.

So does Charlie Sheen, and he's doing just great.

I’m sure that you’ve seen that when he and the girls wrestle sometimes hands momentarily touch or grab at places. Why on ( ... )

Rose Potter might sue, though.

Not only was Hogwarts Exposed around first, it might have inspired Rose's antics. It's hard to imagine, even in a fandom the size of Harry Potter, that two fanfic writers would independently hit on "hey, let's make everyone nudists!"

When the Yahoo Group for The Girl Who Lived was still viewable, I once found a post where Neil wrote to Halcyon. Basically, Halcyon was bitching about how Rose Potter was being taken down from FF.net, and was blaming it on the nudity (and not, you know, the very obvious and rampant plagurism). Neil got on his own soap box about how Hogwarts Exposed was persecuted unfairly on FF.net for its own nudity. -_-

I tend to be of the opinion that genuinely nonsexual nudity isn't an issue in a nonvisual medium. You can include a line like "he took off his clothes and stepped into the shower" without making your fic NSFW, or even warranting a K+ let alone T or M on Fanfiction.net. Neil and Halcyon seem to think their own portrayals of nudity come under that heading when they blatantly don't.
