It really is, isn't it? I think I was so focused on the fact that it contradicts how he said he'd only recently started thinking of her as a girl that I completely overlooked the fact that he's telling Severus Snape, the headmaster, about how he used to stare at a naked girl's crotch.
It's like the author gets bored with the plot he's writing, and to keep himself motivated has to put in something about nudity. "Oh my, has it really been 500 words without a single mention of anyone being naked? Well, I'd better fix that straight away."
The problem with protesting that nudity has nothing to do with sex is that it draws attention to the fact that people do make that association. If you want to advance that argument, much better to write a PG-rated story with no sex, implied sex or even reference to sex where the characters happen to be nudists. Which is also better from a showing/telling perspective.
Exactly. That's what makes the whole naturism thing look like "how dare you accuse me of writing tasteless schlock about hot naked teenage girls? I am writing about naturism, which is pure and good and beautiful and has nothing at all to do with sex. you mean you think it does have to do with sex? man, you guys are perverts; is that all you ever think about?"
I am against animal cruelty, and especially cruelty to wolves, which are really sweet creatures. I once had a friend whose family had a pet wolf. She was so adorable and playful, really just like a large tame dog.
This author wouldn't know conciseness if it landed on his head. ^ My first thought was actually "So she's going to be EVEN MORE long-winded than usual?"
Pomfrey now gets Janice's accent for the rest of the series.
Nudity for this author appears to be serious business on a par with life and death, which I doubt very much is the case for most naturists in the real world. I'd be quite interested to read a naturist's perspective on this fic, come to that. ^ The short version? It's fucking stupid. This guy puts nudity on a pedestal, when really, it's just a part of life for actual naturists.
canon!Snape would proceed to give him detention for going in the girls' dorm. ^ In canon, he wouldn't be ABLE to go into the girls' dorm.

The security system was introduced in Order of the Phoenix, as another commenter pointed out, but that just introduces a continuity error with all the other stuff from OotP the author decides to retcon into HE later.
It really does. I do read the other comments, but keeping up with the timeline of where this was meant to be written is too confusing for me to bother with, so I just point out conflicts with canon when I see them.
