02-20-07 Dinner: East-Meets-West? (Sitting in the whirlpool...thinking)

Feb 21, 2007 00:21

After doing the cardio and weight workout at march wellness, I spent 15 minutes soaking in the whirlpool. I generally use the wind-down time to think about important things such as "what to make for dinner when I get home." Since Meyer lemons were on my mind (due to reading a recipe in FOODday earlier in the day which called for those lemons), and ( Read more... )

You're inspiring me to plan and make more meals at home. I get lazy and just tend to snack on things. Maybe if my goal is to make my food blog-worthy, I'll do more cooking! :)

I think it cuts both ways. Often times I've made dinner dishes that seemed like a good idea in my head, but came out either looking awful or tasting bland and/or unbalanced. I am getting better with time (I've only been cooking meals at home on a regular basis for just 2+ years....I used to be an eat-out-every-day guy for many years).

And on the other hand, sometimes simple snacks are both delectable *and* food blog-worthy. Things like small snacks plates of veggies and cheese, hummus with rice cakes, and simple fruit arrangements fall under those categories, methinks. And those kind of snacks are healthy to boot (and to think that at one point in time, my idea of a snack was a bag of potato chips and a 64 oz. cup of Big Gulp....).

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of the meals and snacks that you create. It sounds like you have excellent taste in food preferemces. :)

I'll start taking more pictures of my snacks. :) Usually it's just things like carrots and hummus or baby tomatoes or those little Arabian pita bread spinach pizza things from Trader Joe's. Healthy, but nothing that I make on my own. Perhaps presentation will make my food life more interesting!

Oh, I used the leftovers from the bag of bonito. The bigger chunks go to the kitties. :)

That looks so DELICIOUS!!!!
It is a shame we are not neighbors..truly I mean cause you could cook one night, then I would cook the next and well it would JUST RULE.

I also stopped by to say Thank you!!
For what you may ask?
Well, I read all of your posts though I don't always comment, they are inspiring.
I have started working out twice a day. A half hour in the morning and a half hour at night.
The super COOl thing about this is, for whatever cosmic reason, working out has me being more focused throughout my whole DAY. I even sat down last night and started to READ A BOOK!! I_Don't_read. Tim was like OMG, I am so proud of you and I was like Why? he said because I was reading..he knows I just don't read...but I had all the chores done that I had wanted to be done with for the day, even had a nice dinenr last night and completed both of my workouts so anywho...thank you for the inspiration

next up- teaching myself to read bass clef for the piano

I'm so touched by your comments....thank you so much! You've definitely inspired me in many ways, from learning how to use lemons to being encouraged to work out. It's so incredible having friends whom I can look up to for inspirations.

And congratulations on the new workout routine--getting on the elliptical is so addictive!

Yeah, Methinks we should be neighbors. Cooking would be fun.
