Why, that's the funniest thing I've ever heard! If they don't know about or can't get contraception...that'll mean no more abortions!!! Wahoo! With you all the way Rep. Phillips!!! Next...we cut out that drop off the baby within 48 hrs law. They can't afford contraception, too stupid to not have sex, no abortions round here, no medicare for poor women and their infants...wait...this is sounding like genocide...how do we lessen it? Oh, I know....we'll pop in a 10th of that in testing procedures and everyone will love us. Now, it's off to the Bahamas with those D.C. lobbyists. I mean, they can't bribe Congressmen anyomore...they have to go somewhere ( ... )

"the churches (and their parishioners) can pick up the
tab for millions of unwanted babies."

Are ya nuts? Can you imagine how many minds they would have to bend to their insane ideas? Not to mention plenty of bodies for canon fodder! I mean, think of the days of orphanages. They kept the kiddies alive long enough to send them off into the big bad world and plenty of them were grateful enough to always pledge their allegiance to the church. :-p

*sigh* Things aren't getting any better out there, are they?

I'd say something profound if there was anything to say, but really, "That's fucked up" is pretty much the only thing that comes to mind.

More and more of women's rights are being curtailed and the women who don't want them aren't doing anything and plenty of women are ALL for it! I just don't get it. :-p

Yeah, I've always had trouble understanding the women who are so adamantly opposed to supporting women's rights. I can't decide if they really believe in the agenda they're supporting, or if they're afraid, or what. But you're absolutely right - in some (most!) cases, the real pressure comes not from the men who have the political power, but from the women who enforce this stuff at home. Very sad.

This one especially bothers me, because, like you pointed out, it's completely directed at low-income women - whom I guess are just so disenfranchised that they don't know how to have a voice. I would suspect that there are large quantities of women who don't even know that their rights are being threatened. It's hard work to keep even reasonably informed about this stuff, and I think that a lot of women just don't have the energy to make the effort.

*sigh*

"I would suspect that there are large quantities of women who don't even know that their rights are being threatened."

Probably not. The people who need to know this the most are either too downtrodden and tired from their two minimum-wage jobs or, as some people I've known, are proudly ignorant about what's going on and are adament about remaining ignorant. *sigh*

This makes me fucking nuts. I would like to lead women into battle. If it's war they want it is war they should get. This is getting more and more ridiculous. On so many levels. Gah....

The women who most need to do something about it won't or can't do anything about it.

Right. I have visions of myself leading entire armies of women who are fucking tired of being oppressed into battle. It just makes me so incredibly furious!
