Thank you! Considering that every time I've opened a file to write something in the past six weeks I get distracted by thinking "oh, I was going to patch that bug first", it's good to know that I can actually settle down and write something when I want to. Heh.

As, in a different (and better, and more hopeful) way is the last sentence of v. I am an optimist, and it makes me happy to see some mending happening :)
Thank you! Yeah, they are getting better -- it's going slooooowly, but it's getting better. Step by step. Every day's a little closer, even if they can't see it at the time.
And I think the half-second of defiance in iv. is my favorite -- I shoved things around to make it come later, because it had more impact if it came later. So much of JD's entire self is built on the core of defiance, man. He is a man who understands the art of the well-placed fuck-you.
And see, the thing is, healing for them is going to come so slowly that they barely even realize it's happening, and for a while it's going to look like things are getting worse. (Sometimes they do get worse before they get better. They're going to have at least one screaming fight ...) But they're both convinced that they can do this (or, okay, Cam's convinced and JD wants to be convinced), so their sheer stubbornness will make it work ...
