A/N: This fan fiction was inspired by and loosely based on the Taiwanese drama "Down with Love." This is also unbetaed so I apologize for any mistake I made.

Chapter 13:

If there was one negative thing about Jaejoong being the twins’ nanny, it’s that he can’t investigate freely. Since the initial plan had been to ask Jung Yunho’s help, Jin had honestly thought that should be the least of Jae’s problems in finding his father. Obviously, he had not taken in to the equation that Jaejoong would change his mind in asking for Yunho’s help especially now that Yunho also had a lot to deal with.

So it was now left to YamaPi and Ryo to look for Lee Minkyung. Both of them were now at an Internet café, staring at the search results that the World Wide Web obtained for the name. “1,000 results for Lee Minkyung and it’s not one who lives in the Seoul area.” They were talking in hushed tones.

Ryo shrugged. “I never said that the World Wide Web was infallible.”

YamaPi sighed as he typed in some other keywords to the search engine, this time including Seoul National University and 1988 to the name of Lee Minkyung. This time, no results were found.

“If only the file had a picture of Lee Minkyung, this would be easier.” Ryo remarked. “Maybe it’s better if we check the school year book for 1988.”

“You should have said that earlier,” YamaPi looked at Ryo. “Do you think you can go to Seoul National University’s library? It will definitely have the school year book. If you find a picture of Lee Minkyung, scan it and just…” He trailed off. “I don’t suppose hacking into the government’s social security system and trying to match the old picture with one of their latest ones from their records would be hard for you?”

“Have you forgotten who you’re talking to?” Ryo grinned. “I was trained to be a spy. Hacking was part of my special classes.” Nishikido Ryo’s education had been different from that of a normal student or even that of a royal prince - his training involved fasting in the mountains, survival in the forests, and discovering how to breathe underwater in the longest period of time possible - and there were also the classes in sharp shooting, bomb making and detonation, art of disguising, martial arts, and computer hacking to name a few.

“I feel that we’re giving you all the dirty work,” YamaPi said. “Breaking and entering and now hacking…”

“I’m offended that you actually consider that dirty work.” Ryo huffed. “I enjoy doing them; they actually beat guarding and following you around all day.”

YamaPi chuckled. “Thank you, Ryo-chan.” Every one knew that it was the farthest Ryo would go to say that he didn’t mind because they were friends and that was what friends do - help and be there for each other.

“Hey, don’t call me that!” Ryo frowned. ”Where are you going anyway?”

“Jin messaged me and told me that he took the Jungs to the mall along with Jae.” YamaPi replied. “I’m thinking of dropping by and coincidentally bumping into them there.”

“Does this have something to do with you pretending to be Jae’s boyfriend?” Ryo was sharper and more observant than most people give him credit for. But if there was something similar between him and Pi, it was that both don’t interfere with other people’s business. If the person refuses to talk about it or hides it for a reason, even if Ryo and Pi knew that something was going on, they’d act like they didn’t. It was part of what they had learned, being with and taking care of the Crown Prince for so long.

“Probably.”

Ryo stared at YamaPi for a few minutes. “He’s going to hate you once he realizes what you’re doing.”

“Yeah.” YamaPi smiled grimly. “I’m actually hoping this is one of those times he remains clueless and be the spoiled Crown Prince he’s supposed to be.”

“Why did you agree to represent me?”

Jung Yongmin looked at the young man standing in his office. Kim Junsu wasn’t anything like his father Kim Minho - that much was obvious from the very moment Junsu had stepped into his firm almost a week ago and had asked for his help. For one thing, Junsu actually wants to take care of Jung Tae Jin and Jung Soo Jin. Not that Yongmin did not have any sort of affection for his grandchildren; he just doesn’t want them as his responsibility and was actually quite relieved when his son’s will revealed that he wanted Yunho to care for them.

That was before he found out he was in-laws with Kim Minho and all hell broke loose. Yongmin had to admit that he had disapproved of his daughter-in-law whom he knew nothing about and had belittled her. His only mistake was actually saying so in front of Kim Minho during one of their legal meetings. And when the latter revealed that Kim Minhwa was his estranged daughter, well, that ended Jung and Associates’ representation for Kim Industries.

It baffles the mind how Kim Minho kept his children’s identities a secret and chooses to reveal them at such inopportune times. As it is, no one except those closest to Kim Minho knows who his children were. But then, Yongmin and Minho had been the same in that their relationships with their children were distant at best. All Yongmin had wanted for Yunho was to follow in his footsteps and be like him - Yunho might have been the younger of his two children but compared to his brother who had always been the rebel - Yongmin had huge expectations for Yunho. The betrayal he felt when Yunho decided to form his own law firm and be free of Yongmin is indescribable.

“I want my son to realize that he cannot win everything,” Yongmin replied. “Now, do you have your sister’s will? I have to know what it said with regard to Jung Tae Jin and Jung Soo Jin and compare it with my son’s will.”

The private detective Yunho had hired already made results and it was Yoochun’s luck that he had been in the law firm when said investigator had dropped by.

It was one of the times Yoochun was grateful that Yunho was too distracted with the twins and a particular someone named Hero that Yunho chose not to be in the firm and instead spend the rest of the day with his nephew, niece, and their nanny. Yoochun read over the files that the private detective had given him one last time before stepping out from his car and crossing the street. Kim Junsu had just come out of the Jung and Associates law firm.

Yoochun jogged as he tried to keep up with Junsu who was walking fast down the sidewalk. “Hey! Kim Junsu!”

Junsu turned to the direction of Yoochun’s voice but didn’t stop walking. Yoochun groaned as he used his last spurt of energy to catch up with Junsu and finally grabbed the latter’s shoulders. “When someone calls you, it means that you should wait for that person.”

“You’re a stranger.” Junsu replied but he did slow down his pace a bit. The man grasping his shoulder was whizzing. “What do you want?”

“From the way you’re talking to me, I assume you at least recognize me.” Yoochun said. “But I still think it’s proper to introduce myself: I’m Park Yoochun.”

Junsu knew who Park Yoochun was - he had researched a bit about Jung Yunho before coming to Seoul and Park Yoochun was Yunho’s best friend and also his partner in Jung, Park, and Associates. “I don’t see why you feel the need to chase me down the street.”

“Yunho doesn’t know that the twins have Kim Minho as their grandfather.”

That made Junsu pause in his steps. Yoochun finally breathed a sigh of relief - he really cannot keep up with Junsu any longer. “It’s actually a problem,” Yoochun continued. “Seeing that we’re now the counsel for Kim Industries and you’re the next CEO of Kim Industries -”

“No, I’m not.” Junsu cut off. “So if it’s conflict of interest you’re worried about, it’s not going to be a problem.”

There was nothing in the files that said Kim Junsu was reluctant to take over his father’s place. Interesting. “I don’t understand why you’re set on taking the twins away from Yunho. Don’t you care about them?”

“Of course I do.” Junsu finally spared Yoochun a glance. “But Yunho has been too busy with his work to pay attention to them, hasn’t he?” Junsu knew about it - how Jung Yunho was a workaholic and of the nannies he hired to take care of the twins.

Yoochun just knew Yunho’s workaholic nature would bite him in the ass. “Listen, it’s different now.”

“It doesn’t matter.” Junsu said evenly. “Unlike Jung Yunho, I wouldn’t need anyone else to take care of my nephew and niece for me, because I’ll be doing that myself.”

This time, when Junsu went away, Yoochun didn’t dare follow him.

Since it was a Saturday, Yunho had suggested that they go to the mall. The twins had been ecstatic and had immediately dragged Hero to their room so that he could help them change their clothes. Changmin, on the other hand, only raised an eyebrow and asked Yunho point blank if the reason he wanted to go to the mall was to spend more time with his niece and nephew before the custody suit starts or if he just wanted to have Hero for himself before the latter gets another day off and spends it with his boyfriend.

As usual, Yunho ignored the question. But Changmin found his answer later on, when while shopping, Yunho still bought the twins what they wanted but at the same time asking Hero’s opinion of whether or not he should buy them for the twins or if it was too much. Yunho also insisted that he carry all of the bags and that Hero just focus on the twins.

If Changmin was any other spectator, he would have thought that the people walking in front of him were a family. Yunho and Hero were the parents and the twins were their children. And Changmin would probably be the extended family that got dragged along because he had nothing else to do and ended up being ignored for the most part. Like now.

The twins had taken Hero’s hand each and was dragging him to the toy store as Yunho followed them, chuckling, while carrying the shopping bags. Changmin had never seen Yunho carry shopping bags before and actually enjoy it.

“Hero?”

Changmin saw how Yunho’s smile faltered when a familiar figure approached them in front of the toy store.

“Ya-Tomo?” He almost slipped again. Jaejoong has to remind himself that YamaPi was really just a nickname and Tomo was Pi’s real name and how hard is it to call his cousin by his real name? “What are you doing here?”

“I had to go buy some stuff.” YamaPi held up his purchase. The twins were holding on to Jae’s legs by now and glaring at YamaPi. It was actually kind of cute. The way Yunho glowering at him wasn’t, though. YamaPi knew he was pushing it a bit too far but he still went and kissed Jae on the cheek.

Changmin wouldn’t have been surprised if the bags Yunho had been holding all exploded and their contents dropped to the floor, from the way Yunho had gripped them tightly. Seriously, Changmin thinks Yunho should just make his move if he was bothered so much.

Jaejoong was shocked by his cousin’s gesture. Pi pecking him on the cheek wouldn’t be surprising back when they were thirteen and twelve, respectively. Now, it was just plain weird. He touched his cheek while looking at his cousin questioningly. Pi just smiled serenely. “I just came by to say hi. I’ll be going now.”

Tomo’s appearance had not even lasted five minutes and Changmin would have thought it a figment of his imagination if only Hero’s face wasn’t red as a tomato and Yunho was red as a well, bull, for lack of a better analogy.

But when Yunho gave all the shopping bags to Changmin, gave him his credit card, told him to take care of the twins for a while and to go home with Jin once they’re done, and grabbed hold of Hero’s hand and took him away, Changmin realized that Jung Yunho was tired of waiting in the sidelines.

If there was one thing that people didn’t know about Jung Yunho, it was this: once he wanted something, he would go out to get it. And it doesn’t matter if it belonged to someone else, because he would still do something to obtain what he wanted. It was one of the things that made Yunho a good lawyer - he would never give up, even if it seemed impossible.

And in this case, Yunho wanted Hero and even the boyfriend Tomo, wouldn’t keep Yunho from trying to get Hero.
