This last weekend was a lot of fun. After a mad packing job, we had a couple of loaders come over on Saturday morning to load our stuff into the moving truck. Turns out one of them didn't know he was working or fogot he was. Which seemed to make sense, considering how hung-over he was. He did little work, even though we fed him yummy sammiches and ( Read more... )

What bit of Victoria y'all homesteading in, again? (Damn nice island, just so inconvenient to visit it... Kinda miss it.)

If I rememeber correctly, it's Gordon Head, close to or in Gordon Point.

I think it might be technically Saanich (as Vic isn't all that big...). It's about a 5-10 minute drive from downtown. Of course, many things in the area are a 5-15 minute drive.

If it makes you feel any better, we just traded in cathy's car, got a reasonable amt for it, and they didn't know the clutch and the timing belt need to be replaced :)

To be fair, they (he) got the job done and was very cool. he even managed to keep his temper in check with the hung-over friend of his (but I did happen upon him quitely chewing the dude out). All things considered, he did a good job. In fact, the unloaders in Victoria commented on how it was one of the best pack-jobss they've seen. Not to mention that he cut like 4 hours off the price (and also further discounted the other guy's wage). In the end they did a good job... The only lame things were the hung-over guy (who, albeit it in a lazy post alcoholic coma, he was pretty nice) and the fact that it took way longer than we wanted. I've worked with loaders a lot throughout the years (for various reasons) and the fact that one man did all that still amazes me...

Always a silver lining.

(Like with the mini-van, too... At least we don't have to pay like 7k in tariffs etc)

I WANNA GO TO SDCC! Damn broken ankle.

I was looking forward to it, too. Sorry I can't be your flying buddy...

But I'll see you for your birthday (give or take a few days).
