Drew, Our Spiritual Networker

Not very long ago, maybe a couple of hours at most, I got word from an old friend that another old friend of mine, Drew, was killed by way of trash compactor a few days ago. A pretty horrible way to go, I imagine. A completely inadequate and hastily written article footnote about it can be found here.

Even though I haven't seen Drew for eight or ( Read more... )

I got lost a few times, but I agree with the sentiment. I supect less years have passed since I left school than you, but I have already learnt of the death of one of my old classmates. And, aside from the 'Christ, that's young' feeling I get at the news of any death of someone young I didn't really feel anything else. So I guess I know how you feel. And why should you feel bad for not feeling the way others did? On Saturday there was a concert for Princess Diana and the RUBBISH you hear from people about how she was a true friend, how she touched them etc etc just makes me want to scream sometime. Very few of the people talking had ever even met her let alone had a normal conversation with her. Bah. I'm losing my point somewhere.

I actually now have nowhere to go with this anymore so I'll probably stop now. Oh, in a totally unrelated vein, would MediaGauntlet like a review of Captivity?

Yeah, I always feel odd when I see people Hardcore Mourn someone they've never even met. I'll probably tear up a bit when Clint Eastwood dies... But then again, I met him briefly (But I know him not at all; not his work).

Anyhow I think I see your point. :)

And heck yeah, I/we would LOVE to have your review!!

To whom do I send it then? Should have something written by the end of the day. Best do because I'll probably forget everything if I leave it much later!

Go ahead and send it to steve (at) mediagauntlet (dot) com.

Are you given an option to post it yourself? Go into My Content (make sure you're logged in) and you'll see "New" and "Choose a Section" and go from there. Then Ryan and I will approve it. :)

Very odd stuff, man.

I wonder how the hell that happened. Very strange, dark circumstances.

Yup. It would be pretty heard, unless the trash compactor there was changed and "upgraded" to the "kill self more easily" model. Usually, they won't even turn on unless the door is closed... Or something like that. Of course, I have no idea what the compactor is they're using these days. Or even my memory of the old one is correct (I had friends that worked there, you see; but I never did).

I still find it weird the cops are like "must be an accident". Then again, these are the same cops who had one amongst them kill his wife and say "it must have been black people" and it was a RADIO SHOW HOST that forced the cops to investigate further (or something like that). These are also the same cops that dealt meth, smoked pot in their cars, had fun with hookers, got drunk and showed off at parties, and beat the shit out of me and my friends any chance they got.

Spokane cops rule.

(Granted, things might have changed some... But now SPokane is two cities and even poorer, I doubt it)

Perhaps he crawled inside for a nap. I know I've done the same several times...

I can't imagine that happening on accident. I could maybe see a drunk bum crawling in there looking for food or something. This I don't get. I mean, they're not very specific, but I think I'd be a bit more suspicious than "industrial accident".

But I guess that's what you get with a shit police force.

No, I would imagine not. Unless you know someone with the name "Drewid" from Spokane, WA. In which case...

I'm sorry to hear about the death of your old friend. What a godawful way to go, if indeed that is what happened.
