Real Life Social Media Zombies

Hmmm. You know something that bugs me a little? It is when you have a friend in real life on social media who you never hear or see anything from, who never responds to posts or comments, and then suddenly they come back to life - just like a zombie

I told a friend, a long time ago, that the last time I saw them go I had the feeling that it was for the last time - and in my mind the exit was a funeral procession of sorts. The unexpected return 10 years later was almost like a second life - a reincarnation.

Zombie would have been funnier.

I've had that happen to me too. It's just so sad that they come back and then drift away again. Eventually when it comes to people I give up on them because I can't take the coming back here and there over the years. I just cannot.

Ya know, that sounds a lot like one of my friends. When he is between relationships, I hear from him a lot. When he is in a relationship, I hear from him about once or twice every 3 months. And he has a one track mind, if ya know what I mean?

I know the type. I really do.

I understand that when people get into a new relationship they need to work on that for a while, but the ones I am talking about disappear for years and then resurface only when something went wrong in their relationship. I am tired of those people.

Since getting sick, friends disappear and then once in a great while you get a call because they might feel guilty but then I don't hear from them in many months. When you get sick you find out who is a real friend I guess :(

Oh, yes. I understand that. I don't fault everyone for doing that, just those who should be your close friends. We all have different levels of friends, social friends and close friends, and casual too. Social friends are the first to disappear because they are only your friend in social situations.

I'm more forgiving of social media zombies than of real life zombies.

Me too. I don't fault them because they are really nothing more than casual acquaintances. Sometimes we forget that they are only that.
