I'm renting a gray 2006 Hyundai Accent (interior, exterior).  It fits me well, although the rear-view mirror hangs lower than I'd like; traffic approaching from behind will look like traffic coming from the right until my brain retrains.  The error seems to be on the side of caution, though, so that's okay.  And the contract-negotiated price, ( Read more... )

Oi. Glad to hear that you're ok.

Unless there's some major damage that isn't visible, it should definitely be repairable. Based on everyone's favorite car part search engine, sheet metal and plastic should come to $600ish (bumper, $100; hood, $200; fender,$100; headlight, $50; plus whatever else they need to replace under the hood). Labor varies from market to market, but it's usually much less than what your mechanic charges - in my experience, about 1/3 of what my mechanic charges.

In short, you should be good to go.

Odds are the radiator needs to be replaced, along with attendant hoses, and of course the grill.

Oh btw Ben: Most modern rearview mirrors have two adjustment points instead of one. Check for a 2-3inch rod with ball joints on each end, you may be able to raise your mirror by pushing upwards on that rod.
