Streaming netflix to tv???

I don't have any of gadgets... Is there a work around?  Is Roku worth it?  Basically I want to dump a bunch of cable channels but I admit to being addicted to certain HBO and Showtime series.  Can I get them in a reasonable fashion from someplace within the week?  I can put off my immediate gratification for that long, but not much longer -- it is ( Read more... )

You won't be able to get HBO or Showtime shows within a week by any legal means except through HBO or Showtime.

I love Netflix streaming, but it's by no means for people who want to watch things that are current or hip. It tends to include tv series, but only up through season-before-last, and certainly not everything. I'd go mad if I could not also get discs delivered.

I haven't looked at Roku, but the whole HBO/Showtime investment in original programming is to make it worth your while to subscribe to their channels.

Confession: I have been loving netflix streaming in part because the girls and I are on a MAJOR Bollywood kick, and they have a LOT.

I think there was a time you could buy them a day or two after the fact on the iTunes store, but they gave up on that. Even on hulu, for instance, they'll give you the first episode of a series/season for free and a few tantalizing clips of the rest, but you have to subscribe to the station for the rest.
