Someone sent me a request on Facebook to "Allow God in School." I would normally just delete that kind of shit, but instead decided to respond. This is what I wrote

Hahah! Hear hear! What an excellent write-up. While I don't agree 100%, I am so appreciative that the person got quite a shock when they read your response. Who else would ever offer up such an insightful diatribe against them if not you? You'll have to update with their reply (if they provide one!).

Thanks man! I have a feeling that they will take this very personally even though when I wrote it I made quite an effort to not make it personal. I never said "you're stupid," instead I say "it's stupid". But if you start criticizing an organized religion people take it personally, which is sad. Instead of opening their minds and checking to see if what I say is actually true, they often get combative or just downright ugly.

I don't think most people have a good knowledge of other religions besides their own, and even then it is the propaganda (for lack of a better word) that is fed to them from their religious "leaders." Which again is sad. I believe that if people were to actually have more of a open dialogue about each others belief systems they'd find more things in common then differences. I've never had a religious argument where the other person said "..oh you make a good point." But that's another tangent all together. haha
