Many of my friends ask why I have such a dark view of the world.  Perhaps it's because when I have walking pneumonia, I read articles on these sorts of topics.

I'm in the middle of a wonderful visit from best friend's wife, baby and bridesmaid. It's great to have life filling this forsaken diplomatic house. Two points, it looks like baby will be joining me in the only children's club and secondly, I'm like a bad Dylan song, "falling for the first woman I meet" (not baby mama, bridesmaid duh).

Tomorrow I head up to Santiago to do some PI consular work. An American died a week and a half ago and left a big mess behind. Lucky for me that it's on the way to my surf safari. J and her bridesmaid are coming down and bringing baby Lucia. Four days of surfing and lounging. A buddy is loaning us his villa by the sea, pool, maid and all ( Read more... )

pin.  My alter ego assures me that if I ended in D.C. for New Year's she'll assure me plenty of mistletoe and other depravity.  This all ended poorly with my keeping up the other redhead from two redheads and a dusty-eyed Italian in her visit to Jerryland.

As y'all know, I feel rather strongly about certain words, l-ve in particular. It's so important (as improbable as it is for me) that I don't even write it out. I went to sleep way late this weekend in NYC, and so late at night on the phone with a friend back in the states I said:

me: I don't really want to admit I'm back in Caribbean purgatory.

she: I think you may be the only peson who has ever combined "carib­bean" and "pur­gat­ory"
