for me, when I'm attracted to someone, it's because I enjoy their company and never tire of it, even when we're just silent and sitting together.

And so, when you just show him that you enjoy his company immensly, whether thats through this-stupid-random-thing-reminded-me-of-you text messages or lets-see-each-other-as-often-as-possible plans, you are in fact revealing how you feel.

You don't have to use statements, like "I like you" in phone calls that you dread to tell someone how you feel. Confessions are unexpected, and surprises are sometimes what makes things awkward.

Just let him know you enjoy his company. Then the ball is in his court. He can reciprocate (if he's smart!) or not. In either case, enjoy it for what it is. Have fun. Liking someone is supposed to please you, not torture you.
