Weekend storybooklandA friend of mine didn't give me a Birthday gift, for some reason or other. A couple of months after my Birthday we hung out in Stockholm and he said that if I saw something I liked, he'd buy it for me as a gift. We saw a book stand at Kungsträdgården and there I found this book. It's beautiful and it cost him 3 dollars, maybe. The moral of ( Read more... )

Lovely lovely lovely *-*
Riktigt inspirerande. Känns nästan lite chiho saito över kropparna i sjöjungfru-sagan.

Hehe, fatta att hitta den i Kungsan för tjugofem spänn ^^ *lycka~*

I think they were written for this book, and they are no milestones in the history of literature, exactly. The main attraction, judging by the cover, are the illustrations.

These seem like interesting stories. Especially the baby who was a mulatto. Whats that about? But the illustrations are definitly lovely. :D

A black baby is found in a village in Denmark, the local priest takes care of him and dubs him Ernst. After a while it turns out that the baby's mother was a Swedish girl who went back to Sweden and died soon after his birth, and the baby's father is a musucian who plays in Stockholm and Copenhagen. His father says that he'll take care of the child and will teach him to play once he's grown up, but it's hard to bring up a child when you are constantly on the move. So Ernst stays with a pries, is somewhat harrassed by the other children, but finds friends in school's pretties blondiest girl Christine and an old lady whose life he saves. When the priest dies, the boy moves to his mother's hometown and goes to school there. Tiddeli-pom.

Not really the kind of story with a clear beginning, crescendo and ending that you'd normally expect ^^
