The Elven calendar: established with the formation of Arlathan. The Tevinter Imperium banned the use of this calendar shortly after Arlathan was destroyed and the elven race enslaved. According to the Imperial calendar, the years prior to the foundation of the empire are tracked in negative numbers. Modern scholars outside of Tevinter recognize the existence of the original elven calendar, although little more is known of the way elves marked the passage of time beyond a few events during their time.
So basically an Elven calendar does exist, or DID exist rather, but considering how little Elven lore still exists in the current age in-game, I doubt they use it. They likely know that there was once a calendar, but whether or not the old month names were passed down through history is questionable. They probably use the Imperial/High names listed up there.
Aaaaand this has been a message from your friendly neighborhood lore fanatic. If you have any other lore questions, feel free to PM
Lore Fanatic is good -- I need one for this story I think, esp. since it's already at about 5000 words.
I wondered if you would be interested in helping me with the lore and the like? The story is quite political, and I'd really appreciate someone to discuss it with. While I'm happy to Make Up things (actually, I quite enjoy slotting things into existing lore) I find it really throws a story out if it contradicts something that is lore.
Sure thing! Haha, hell, I'm just happy to see people that are willing to research or talk about lore. I've been in way too many fandoms with people going, "Lore? What's that? I do what I want!"
Like I said, you're welcome to PM me, or if you'd rather talk through AIM or MSN or something like that, just let me know your usernames and I'll add you!
