i think shannon had to be shot in order to get the audience hating ana lucia from the get go. at least that's what the writers thought. make as many people hate ana as possible...so when you get to her backstory it becomes more powerful. i guess? i dont know. i wonder if on the dvd there's a commentary for that ep...i actually liked ana lucia once i learned her history, but i am in the minority for that. haha.
did you ever watch alias? it was jj's show before lost...it was wonderful and i think you'd love it. sydney bristow is up there with buffy and starbuck as my favorite heroines to ever rock the television world.
if in love = doomed is joss' thing. jj abram's thing is truly daddy issues. i swear to god every character in lost has daddy issues. and alias too.
Oooooohhh I really like the daddy issues thing. I'll have to think on that. I have season 1 of Alias loaned from Lisa - I'll make sure to watch it this summer and get the rest from the library. It's hard to get into the beginning of the show b/c she does so much on her own and I'm really sort of a freak for ensemble casts lol It's high on my summer TV list though.
I got the episode when Ana Lucia shots Shannon on DVD - I'll check and see if there's a commentary. If there is, I'll let you know what they say. I think Ana Lucia's going to be an interesting character (I'm like a third of the way through the second season...) and I feel terrible about what happened to her. And unstable characters are always a good time. We'll see. She made Sayid cry which I don't appreciate.
I still can't believe I didn't notice the daddy issues thing... they ALL have daddy issues. It's incredible. WOW. Poor JJ.
And I ALWAYS laugh when I see your Stanley icon - makes me smile every time.
