In the beginning I used a lot of potions to get through but once I got a healer using potions became a thing of the past, kinda neccessary in 1 on 1 fights though i'll admit.

I certainly haven't come across a situation where I felt I didn't have enough, there have been plenty of 'erbs to be picked up that can be made into a wonderous glorious health salves, but i'll see how things go when I get to Loghain...

Glad you enjoyed it mate!

Well, your healer only has so much mana, but not only that... For example on the broodmother there is so much AoE damage that 1 healer isn't enough. Think I'd have been ok had I had some mana pots.

Easy tactics for the broodmother: have ranged dps take out the tentacles and the mother, and have melee stationed to take care of the Darkspawn adds that appear. It's only when you get up close and personal with the big beastie that you take a lot of AOE damage.

Pretty much how I did it in the end. have everyone stand on a rock and range her, then melee the adds when they came. Ignored the tenticles.

Still took me a few tries.

Tip for you: if you play it again, when you get to the brothel in Denerim tell the Madame to choose for you :P There are a number of things she will suggest. I got a dwarf transvestite.

Haha cool.

Have you played all the starting options? If so, did you manage to get a threesome with your dwarf noble? I did :)

I have played all of the starting options. Haven't gone through every possibility yet though, there's just way too much :p
