Dragon Age review

Having spent a week ill at home I managed to find time to play and complete this game. Spilers after the cut.

So, mostly thought the game was awesome. awesome graphics, awesome voice acting with many optional dialogues and full integration of race, gender and plot into specific voice chats. Must have been some undertaking, but worked very smoothly.

Game play was good, but a little limited. Some fights were very taxing, some very easy. Some involved intricate tactics, which brought out my Warcraft player. The thing I disliked though was reliance on mana/health potions. A number of fights I just had too few despite having conserved them and it made some fights nigh on impossible. In fact, when I got to Loghrain I had so few that I had to cheat to win. Not proud of it, but he literally clobbered me every time :( I had plenty of cash, but not enough people sold potions and that really bothered me since they were clearly integral.

Oddly, the final fight was easy, not a single potion used, whereas the Brood Mother was very hard and the High Dragon was damn tough.

Still, my commoner dwarf warrior (beserker/champion) became brother in law to the king of the dwarves, friend of the king of the humans and ultimately sacrificed himself to kill the arch demon! Statues were built in my name. very cool and touching ending, with many sub plots tied up. I understand there are many endings which is cool. It means if I decide to play in the future I can do so without 100% repetition.

Overall a very cool game, but the reliance of potions and lack of them really let it down. The Loghain fight I found a total bummer. 1 on 1 fight and I stood no chance. Wasn't fun.

Overall I'd say 7/10, but well worth the play.
