I just finished rereading this for the third or fourth time. Thanks so much for writing it. I think its the best of the Big Bang set. I loved the careful way that Jim tasted and judged all the apple pies and the way that Blair bounced through the Festival. I love the apple pie rules and the careful way the Festival handled the entries. It was good to have a non angst story without whomping on Jim or Blair or Dean.
I'm flattered that you find Apple Pie interesting enough for re-reading. Thank you so much for your initial Moonridge request and for green-lighting the crossover idea. It was fun figuring out how Jim would use his senses to judge the pie contest; it let me focus on taste, one of his lesser-used senses. My usual original characters are villains and victims, so having a slice of life story gave me the opportunity to develop Mandy and Aunt Helen, a different kind of OC.
. I like this -- a very nice, low-key, slice of life; my favorite genre. It's great to see everyone -- sentinel, guide, and hunter -- having some time off to kick back and relax. Nicely done.
If I may suggest -- there are still some readers who are unfamiliar with LJ, and don't know how to check 'recent entries' for other parts of a story. Putting a link which leads to the next section at the end of part 1 and part 2 would smooth the way for new fans (or fans years from now) who are confused. .
I'm (kinda slowly) working my way through the BB stories, and I enjoyed this little slice of life, and that bit of fellow-feeling between Jim and Dean.
I like the slices of life and pie in the story. The characters all were interesting to read about and it was nice to have a happy ending. (I am curious if they meet up again, if Jim will remember the scent from Dean?)
Thank you so much for reading and reviewing, glad you liked this crossover. I hadn't thought of continuing this, but your question has me thinking... Hmm, scent being such a strong memory trigger, Jim would just about have to remember smelling that scent from Dean, esp if he smells it again when they meet. Hmmmmm...
