I am asking myself the same question. I mean, when you have a movie that has won every other BP award this season it is really a smack in the face. UGH!
Any other nomination over Crash would've been much better. Someday it'll be in one of those tv programs that highlight the oopsie and upset award winners for not deserving the win over other nominations.
Exactly. I really felt like all the other movies in the category were deserving of the nomination and would have stood up as BP. Unlike Crash which is already being called the worst Oscar upset. Again, as I have said I would have picked other movies in the category over Crash.
I only saw three of the nominees--"Munich", "Brokeback Mountain" (which I saw twice), and "Good Night and Good Luck"--but I have to admit that I thought "Good Night and Good Luck" was a better movie than either BM or Munich. I don't know if it was better than "Crash", but it was the best movie I saw this year.
With the possible exception of A History of Violence, which should have been nominated, instead of Munich. Munich winning would have been "the most fucked up thing the Academy could have done", because it wasn't the Best Picture of the Year, by any stretch of the imagination.
