AMEN!
17 YEARS! I remember when DADT was enacted by the Clinton adminstration. It was sold as a safe guard for the military and that it will protect the gay and lesbian soldiers from being discharge. But history has showed us that making a person live a lie is the worst crime and the law was twisted so it didn't protect the men and women who serve their country at all. I have no idea how the LGB soldiers dealt with the stress of the job and the added stress of living their life in the dark.
Well, to be fair, before that LGB soldiers had to live with the not just the fear that some day they might slip up and "tell", but that at any moment anybody with a grudge or a strong opinion about gays in the military could deliberately come after them and out them. And ruin their career and their life, even if they were as discreet as they could be.
One day the children of this country will ask what was the big deal and why did it take us so ( ... )
