Although unacquainted with the sensation, himself, like any good predator, Richard knows what anxiety looks like. It's a useful skill when it comes to hunting and terrorizing women, and invaluable when it comes to handling a teenage girl. Patience is the key ingredient to dealing with the anxiety of another; while nursing a dilaudid hangover, he hunted down Amanda in the restaurant, informed her of Salome's desire to meet her, set up a time and then returned to the girl who was already fretting over her decision, clearly unsure again as to whether or not she should go

She is thinking way too much about this. Even she knows that she is thinking way too much about it. It's insane how much she is thinking about this, she has had to change her top twice because she is sweating and anxious and thinking that the color doesn't go with her skin tone and she wants to make the best impression possible. It's almost like knowing you're going to run into an ex at a bar, you want to look your best, you want them to think: holy fuck I missed out on that. Hell yeah you did, bitch, this is what happens when you give up your awesome daughter and then run into her after seventeen years of life

Yeah, Richard intends this to be one moment after another of sticking it to Amanda. Not that he cares--frankly he's glad that she fucked off before she had a chance to screw up Salome--but he doesn't need much of an excuse to hate somebody and want to see them squirm

This is what keeps Salome from being the little girl in the back of the class who has no friends and can't make eye contact with anyone. Her father is her biggest fan and instills in her a confidence that most teenagers can't even dream of. Even in her weakest moments she still feels incredibly loved and special by the man who means the most to her in the whole world. What this woman thinks shouldn't matter to her, and when she thinks long and hard about it, or when she gets this dinner done and over with, it won't even make any difference to her in the world if this woman lives or dies. Because Amanda isn't worthy of her, she never was and never will be
