Re: Art- you need to make an effort to get out there. Like, pimp your stuff to independent galleries, zines, etc. There's heaps of small time publications that exist solely to pimp young artists. Even if having your stuff in Bob's Pseudoerotica Monthly doesn't seem that glamorous, it's all about being seen. (Also, having your stuff published makes you feel tingly :3)

I agree with the independent gallery/zine route. Vanessa's back catalogue of zines are on display at the moment at the MCA(museum of contemporary art), they totally open doors and it impresses people and makes you look like you're doing a lot more than you are if you mass produce your art. It's weird, but it can be so helpful when people have access to and desire your work, and there's a reason to be proud of yourself, even if you're only giving it to your friends. It opens doors and does the networking for you if you've got something you've done even if it's not perfect.

This is something I heard from my friend yesterday about the ATO bonus - not sure how accurate it is though. She heard that they may be sending out cheques to our accountants first to check if we're eligible (wtf?)then send it back to ATO before it gets sent to us. If this is true (which I hope it isn't), we might not get it till next month. I WANT MINE NOW THOUGH D:
