I actually managed to watch this on time this week and I thought it was a very average episode - nothing great, but nothing that totally ruffled my feathers either. Mostly just felt like it was setup.

Stray thoughts/responses:
--Damian, huh?  I was just THINKING this show needed another villain.Yes. This. Also, I know that I want more Kalinda...but I need them to not take this where I think they might. Blake 2.0 should not be on the menu. Ever. And fingers crossed that Jordana Spiro's character (who I think debuts next week?) doesn't end up as Dana Lodge 2.0 ( ... )

I'm gonna call this now...but somehow Diane and Alicia are going to join forces by the end of this season. The parallel they drew of Alicia rolling her eyes at the arguing fourthies and Diane mirroring her at "LG" seemed too pointed for them to ignore. Not to mention Diane's comment to Will at the end about it reminding her of them.

I'm wondering if as Eli burns through replacements for Diane on the Supreme Court if Alicia doesn't eventually say "What the hell?" and Diane gets it offered again. Because she was removed purely for spite, she's still a good candidate. And that leads to an Alicia reconciliation with Diane.

Maybe she doesn't accept it. Maybe if Josh Charles doesn't sign on for Season 6 they'll wind up LG and Diane either becomes a judge or joins FA. No idea what they'll do with Kalinda in that case though. *glooms*

If you'll excuse me I just need a minute to look at Kalinda in her red dress sat on that table. And another. And another. OK I'm done.

Yeah, not much going on this week...I liked K shaking her head to Will to try to veto the dodgy guy, she really is written very sympathetically this season, plus of course her disapproving of the big baddies is very in character.

Please please don't let it be another weird sex thing. Please please. I could just about handle a new boyfriend as long as a) it's not a weird sex thing and b) she actually likes the guy. And Irish man doesn't seem to be checking any of those boxes so far, so please don't sex them up, show. I so much prefer watching big old softie Kalinda being fluffy and kind to nice people (see: Robyn almost crying on her last week) than K sparring with yet another dude who she basically hates.

Alicia's just become any other lead in a procedural - I watch her in a half-interested way but I don't care if she wins or loses, I don't care if she's happy or not. I just watch.

I'm not even close to done! :D Normally I ask Jamie to suggest what she wants capped. This time it was HERE YOU GO LADY!

On a more serious note, it's interesting after 8 episodes of K being, how shall we say? subdued? Suddenly when they needed to bust out Kalinda being irresistible again it was BAM! Hot as fuck! (Props to Dan Lawson btw.)

On a bitchier note, Kalinda sitting on a table doing nothing while fully-dressed is 100x sexier than the most photoshopped promo shot of Alicia. Suck it JM. Sorry, that's how low I've sunk...

Kalinda's lost contact with two people she really cares about in Alicia and Cary ( ... )

Showing my age, but I had a minor crush on her as a teenager from minor films like "Some Kind of Wonderful". She was on the official list of actresses my bestie and I would go to see in anything they did.

Having a guess, but I think there must have been a reshuffling/reshooting/rewriting thing going on here. The press release came out for 5:09 incredibly late and given that TGW usually shouts guest stars from the rooftops, I find Mary Stuart Masterson arriving unheralded (unless I missed it?) pretty anomalous.

Speaking of guests, where have all of the reoccuring guest stars been this season? I'm kind of missing our rotation of staple judges. Don't get me wrong, I like Jeffrey Tambor. But... I'd like some of my old favorites back.I like him too! But having him in 3 of 9 episodes without any of the old old faves seems unbalanced. We have had repeat judges this year (Judges Chase, Stanek, and Politi) but they aren't the iconic ones ( ... )

Agreed! Such a talented, yet underrated actress. She is a sorely missed presence in films and TV these days. I kept hoping she would have a cameo throughout the seasons of Weeds, if only to see a MSM and MLP reunion. Aaaaaaaand I feel like Watts was totally a lesbian in Some Kind of Wonderful.

There were no trumpets or heralds to be found for the most-deserving MSM. : ( I hope the reason why was reshooting, and not the creators just being lazy.

But while I didn't believe it at first, I now can't see her as anything but ( ... )

I actually voted to go to bed rather than watch on the day, it was the Missus who insisted on watching it that night. Then I read this and questioned my relationship with the show. I'm not quitting, but I feel so differently about the TGW compared to a year ago. And yet I can't stop thinking about it. I'm a sad case...

I will give this episode some credit because I think the humour worked pretty well and I liked the COTW compared to some in recent episodes. So I was entertained. But *scratches head* why was all the focus on NotReddit instead of the FBI using evidence that wouldn't hold up *if* in fact their client was telling the truth and he wasn't involved? I mean I get that Scabbit started to cause a defamation problem and cost the client his job, but that's not how it started out. I might need to rewatch... I was tired! But it was still only a middling episode for me.

I'm going to confess to enjoying Damian while simultaneously being very suspicious. He's coming across as the latest attempt to give Kalinda a shady male foil, so ( ... )

Ugh. It's official -- ok, it was probably official before today, but BAH -- the Kings have no flipping clue what to do with Kalinda. And they especially have no clue when it comes to Kalinda without Alicia. None. Zilch. Zero. I'm convinced that the only reason we even like her is because of AP's brilliance.

I know I'm completely and totally pre-judging an episode I haven't even seen yet...but just no. They have beat the sex angle to death. It's uninteresting and overdone and not even well executed. And here's how it will probably go...Kalinda sleeps with someone because she needs something from them. Insert in generic name that probably ends with an 'a'. There's some sort of unnecessary power play in which Kalinda asserts her promiscuity and then wham...she gets some. I'm going to hope that it's at least more interesting than that. AND that it has nothing to do with Damian. But my faith in the KINGS is fading. Seriously. Enough. AP is so much better than that.

I was hoping against hope that at least the banging was with Cary, because that I *am* actually interested in. You know, an ongoing relationship of 4 years standing with complicated feelings on both sides where it ties back into the broader narrative of the show? That kind of thing...

I can't really see a random hookup doing much more than briefly holding my attention in a cat/shiny object way.

And yes, please not with the sexist prick. So cross your fingers for Not!Holly my name is JENNA!

I agree with a lot of your posts and perceptions, but not about Cary and Kalinda. Yeah, part of it is that I'm an "only want to see Kalinda with women" viewer, but even that aside I've never liked Cary.
Every now and then he does something nice, but for the most part he's always been a "me first" person. From the beginning he taunted Alicia about her age and her husband and was nasty and backstabbing, etc.
And I hated how he and Dana Lodge were trying to play Kalinda, while consequently getting off while talking about her during their sex scenes.
I've also thought he seems like such a boy trying to play grownup, and he's not a character I see as a viable match for Kalinda, who needs someone who's an equal.
The Kings all but said we would see more Cary/Kalinda, so I guess it's bound to happen. But I don't want it. Why can't they lie about the stuff I don't want to see, instead of only making false promises about what I really wish would happen?

Oh and in follow-up remarks regarding the Willicia flashbacks: the fact that Alicia seems to need public or semi-public settings to get off in sexual encounters with Peter AND Will says something.

I like to think Kalinda wouldn't need additional spice to satisfy Alicia.

*shakes head*
