Shelley had slept late, warm and cozy under her new comforter in her new bed.  It wasn't as luxurious as her room back in the Playboy Mansion, but it was her new home, and she was going to make the most of it.

Already returned from his morning training, Dimitri was aware of both the sudden snowstorm and the lack of electricity. This had not stopped him from hiding away in his own room with a novel like it was any other Saturday afternoon.

For a huge man trained to be a hero and slay vampires, he led a very boring life.

At her scream, he emerged from his room, curious at her take on the situation. "Shelley?"

"Thank god, you're here," she said, stepping back and pointing at the thermostat. "It's broken," she explained. "The little numbers are missing and it's making the apartment cold, like really, really cold."

In case he couldn't tell.

"Have you thought that could be connected with the lack of lights...Shelley, when did we get a fireplace?" He would swear that had not been there when he went out in the morning.

Shelley considered the fireplace. "It wasn't there yesterday," she commented. "I mean, I don't remember painting around it."

Oddly, that wasn't her biggest concern at the moment. She was thinking about Dimitri's first question, figuring the Russian was giving her a riddle to get the heat back. She reached out and flicked the light switch, frowning as nothing happened.

"Sooo... if we replace the burnt out light bulb, the heat will come back on?"
