Note to Self: The List

"You must persevere to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks."
Chinese proverb

"There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."  ~Anaïs Nin

"You may delay, but time will not."
Benjamin Franklin

I found a note in my desk. It was folded and placed in the very back of my top drawer. It was behind my check stubs, stapler, and printer paper. Written on college ruled notebook paper.

In my desk tucked behind my check stubs, stapler, and, paper clip holder, was a note. This note was folded up tightly and stapled shut. On the front was the date Nov. 15, 2009 on the other side it simply said: Note to Self. At the time of finding the note I had no recollection of writing it. Upon reading the scribbled print on the inside, it all started to comeback to me. It read as follows:

Future Me,

You are better than you give yourself credit. Smarter than you let yourself appear. Lovelier than you will ever know. Love yourself and others will follow. Trust yourself. Learn from your past, look to the future, live in the present. Stop dwelling on the past, you miss the now. Enjoy what you have instead of longing for what you don't have. Remember no one knows you like you. Life is learning, never stop.

Past Me

It was actually the best thing I could have found today. After a rather stressful day yesterday, I was riding to work feeling depressed. Alone. Stuck in a rut. Then I found this note, with a To-Do List. This list was thing to accomplish before turning 30. Time is ticking, why did I hide this note? 236 days to get a list of things done. Can it be done?

Here is the list. Some of the things listed might sound simple, but they are things fear has stopped me from. Ahh fear. I have crossed out the things I have already accomplished. Which surprisingly was quiet a bit.
  • Make close friends not one sided friendships
  • Rid my life of friendships I doubt
  • Own at least one pair of nice heels
  • Accept past failures
  • Try something new no matter how impulsive
  • Stop assuming you hate a food without trying it
  • Be social without alcohol
  • Learn a new language
  • Take a spontaneous trip
  • Face at least 3 fears (I have been working on this...)
  • Take a road trip alone
  • Travel to a new state
  • Campout and really enjoy it
  • Train Ride
  • Reconnect with my spiritual side
  • Go to Graceland
  • Go to a beach

There were a few other things that were a bit too personal for me to share. I have some things to catch up on as you can see. So thank you Past Me, you made today awesome!
