I think I have your Christmas Eve beat in that I overdid the prime rib because M and I got left behind at the house while my mom and dad went to the ER because my dad was achy on one side and having chest pains. Thankfully not a heart attack, but we really need to stop having family holidays where someone winds up in the ER (in the past it's been my mother with strep or food poisoning or my dad catching the pyrex pie plate after it bounced and thus shattered in the sink slashing up his hand and needing stitches).
No, she did turkey last year. We requested the roast this year after the turkey last year...same deal. She just needs to learn to take meat out earlier or how to defrost in the microwave.
The Velveeta helps with the creaminess. You could use any processed American cheese I guess. Just adding extra cheddar would make it too oily. It is soooo yummy! Have I never made it for you? Hell, come to think of it I'm not sure I have ever cooked for you.
My mom seemed happy with hers, and my sisters couldn't believe that I had made my the hat and scarf, they thought it was store bought. :D I did damn good work on those cables! Trish thought the washcloths were cute, so that's cool.
The funny thing is we started playing domino's semi-regularly on Sunday nights, although that's about the only time we see the in-laws. I am trying to get back in the swing of updating more, so maybe you'll see more. :)
Ours was different...no Ben this year...he and his bride of six months stayed home...can't complain L and I did exactly the same our first year married...
We had weather issues too so I didn't make the Christmas Eve Communion.
The feast sounds sumptuous-and I thought we did well...................

Sorry you missed communion. I got Elle to come to mass, although she refused to participate, maybe next time.
And the happiest of new years to you all too.

Hope this next year every little thing gets better. From little to big.
Merry Christmas retroactively.
