So I have final word from Deakin. the offical word is that if I can show them proof of a visa that will allow me to study 2 or fewer courses then they will let me. I get the sense that I'm totaly throwing a wrench into their plans and now I have to switch tracks from deakin focused ( Read more... )

w00t!

Don't think I have ever seen SPF 50 here. What is sold as "30+" in the shops varies from 30 to 120 though, Australia has fairly strict consumer protection laws and stuff so if someone's going to label something as "SPF50" they have to go about proving it, which in that case is rather difficult.

if it veries between 30 and 120 is there a way to tell which it is cuz I don't want to have to bring up to a years supply of sunscreen but I don't want to have to test them to find one strong enough to work for me.

Yeah, the advertising can't say anything more than "30+". The actual difference between 30 and 50 is yet to be proven scientifically I think. The thing to look out for is what is said between the lines on the pack -- if you go for one that says "works up to 4 hours" then that will be better than one that says "works up to 2 hours".

I personally use one of the 2 hour ones because it's a gel and you can spray it on, and you don't end up being all slimy.

oh yours are hour rated I don't think ours are. and the problem for me with sprays is that I can't apply enough. Canadian guidlines say that the adveradge person needs to apply about a full shot glass of sunscreen on their body to get the proper protection. and when I use creams I can get it thick enough. and I also reapply about every 2 hours (even thoguth ours often say all day or 8 hours)
