Mom was right . . . how stupid!

Wowee! I was watching this video from Police Women of Broward County and there's this guy who was riding his bike around like he just can't be hurt. Riding against traffic ON THE STREET on a major highway. While holding a cell phone in one hand. Going through red lights, getting honked at, etc. My mom always did say that some young people ( Read more... )

The bike and foot traffic in South-East FL is horrific- this guy is not a lone bicycle ninja, he's one of dozens that I see every day.

A month or so back, I was pulling out of an apartment complex in Broward and a guy comes zooming down the hill on the wrong side of the street and basically bounces off my car. The dude just picked himself up, got back on the bike, and kept going- completely not bothered at all by the fact that if I'd been moving, he'd have been a pancake.

They do not look where they're going. Ever. It's even worse if you're in a parking lot.

Yeah, but this guy thinks he's "better on a bike" than those guys. I'm a biker so I know better than most how important it is to obey the rules of the road and keep your eyes peeled, and also keep in mind that even though many situations give bikers/pedestrians the right-of-way, it doesn't mean they'll obey it or see you.

Semi off-topic, but I absolutely love Police Women. Cops squick me in general (and cop shows, by extension), but they give me hope. Julie is my favorite. She's hysterical. Yay for a show about awesome ladies.

(Appropriate icon is appropriate. And, wow, I just got a flash of a Saw fanfic idea like "Police Women of {Jigsaw's town}" about the life and times of Kerry, Perez, etc. I really want this to exist now.)

Heh. I know nothing about cop shows and I don't think I've ever watched one, and have also never seen any Saw and don't know who Julie is. But yeah, ladies in positions of power are a nice thing to see, even though it's depressing that guys who get pulled over or arrested by them tend to have some kind of sexist reaction.

I'm not intending to watch them because I don't like horror movies in general (especially those that depict realistic human suffering, not just oh no blood and gore), but the person who posted this greatly enjoys them and seems to get something out of it, so hey.

Dude is totally a ninja in his own brain. I really hope he doesn't ACTUALLY have to get hit by a car before he realizes he's behaving like an idiot.

Hopefully he will not have to become roadkill for acting like a lower life form.
