Yeah, I really just don't think finding someone attractive is enough of a reason to say "I want to go out with you." Like I say in the LJ entry I linked, that means I am clearly a "what" to this guy and not a "who," and while that is of course unavoidable when you don't know someone yet, what kind of person would I be if I was down with dating someone who was fine with dating a "what"?
I've heard a couple people say his actions were "ballsy" and "brave" or whatever, though I think just giving me a number and running away before I could look at it was kind of a weak way to initiate such a thing. But I'm sure more people have just not bothered at all, so maybe it's at least admirable that he was willing to brave possible embarrassment to get what he wanted. I draw the line there, though; I don't think it's particularly brave to risk your job just because, after all, that girl was REALLY good-looking and you just couldn't live with yourself if you didn't at least try to get her attention.

And where the heck did the guy get the guts to do that anyway? Most dudes I know wouldn't have had the nerve to even consider that.
