10.21/22 'Finale' Review

May 14, 2011 00:47

I have been equally dreading and looking forward to this day and it's here. Not only is it here but it's over. Smallville is done. This is the last SV episode review I'll ever write. Wow. I wasn't sure what to expect with the finale but I've been crossing my fingers that they'll give us a great send off. Tom Welling praised it and while actors don' ( Read more... )

I'm gonna comment over on LJ since that's where most people seem to be playing, and I just wanted to say that (assuming I'm the comics fans you mention *g*) that I finally watched and it turns out that I ADORE this episode. TO PIECES. Everything was wonderful, and I've even resigned myself to SV's baby!Queen because, yeah, there NEEDED to be a small child reading Superman comics for whom these heroes are *real* and *beautiful* and *present* in their life. Someone to look up to, to believe in. And if there was going to be a kid, it might as well have been Ollie and Chloe's instead of a random kid ( ... )

That's cool! Yeah, most of my flist comment here. DW is kind of a back-up journal for me, in case LJ dies permanently, lol.

Actually, you weren't. I have a lot of comic book fans on my flist but I wasn't referring to anyone really. I was mostly making a general statement. Kind of putting myself in the shoes of someone who does read the comics and is invested in the GA storyline there. I see a lot of Chlollie hate on Twitter so I was just making myself clear on where I stand, you know? I hope I didn't offend you or anything! It truly wasn't my intention.

But yay! I'm glad to hear that you liked the episode too!

I wasn't offended, no worries! And I hope my issues with Chloe/Oliver don't come across as hating--that's not my intention either. As much as I enjoy SV!Ollie, there's too much of Lex in him to be my Ollie. The Lex-Oliver parallels make for interesting stories, don't get me wrong, but I have to remember to set aside the comics/toons.

Tess was fantastic! It'll be interesting to watch her evolve from antagonist to (anti?) hero in three seasons. But I hope there will be lots of Tess resurrection fics coming! (I still can't get over "Lutessa" though. Ugh, what a name.)

Oh, no, not at all. Trust me, I haven't even seen you hating on Chlollie. It's mostly from my fellow Cloisers on Twitter and it's irritating because I'm like, 'enjoy what you like and ignore the rest'. I generally had less of a tolerance because it was the last season and I wanted fandom to get along for a little bit, you know?

I don't see him being too much like Lex and I find the similarities between them only on the superficial level. I think SV!Ollie is more like Bruce actually, with the dead parents and the angsting, except his morals are more gray than Batman. Lex is ( ... )

Weeell....to me is seemed like the little boy was Chloe and Oliver's...I'm only guessing because the Green Arrow bow and arrow was in his room, or at least a replica or something. But like I said, guessing, and in my opinion, I would like to believe that.

But yes...everything was epic. I just...blahh...I don't know what my emotions are doing to me.

Yeh I think he mouthed daddy when he was looking at the bow and arrow in the corner... he's so cute.. Plus i swear he's the same little boy who played Ollie as a youngest in one of the previous flash backs.

Did he really mouth Daddy? Now I have to go rewatch that, because it'd be too cute if that was true.

Plus i swear he's the same little boy who played Ollie as a youngest in one of the previous flash backs.
Actually, he's not. That kid would've been too old to play the part. Also, I read that the actor who played this kid was only 5.

Yeah, that's basically what I said above. I do think that it's Chloe and Oliver's kid. It was pretty obvious.

But yes...everything was epic. I just...blahh...I don't know what my emotions are doing to me.
Agreed. It was just awesome and everything I could've hoped for. :D

They haven't aired S10 here yet and I'm anxiously waiting for it! The only bits I've heard about have been your reviews and SuperGEM's vids on YT - I know that means I have the spoilers but you guys are the biggest SV fans I know so I'm fine with that! :P And a small part of me didn't want to watch S10 because I was afraid they'd screw it up somehow but now I'm really excited!!! Seeing as it's finished there, I'm just gonna wait for a few of the final eps to make their way online and get the whole season - if I wait for it to air here I might be waiting 'til I'm old and grey :P

Well, the season isn't perfect- it had its share of ups and downs, but there were a lot of great moments and well, the finale is definitely awesome.

I definitely had moments of getting very emotional while watching too.

That kid was very cute. And I understand. I had a hard time getting this review out.

Me either. It's weird. :(

TBH, I was also a bit puzzled why they waited so long to get married in the end, but I just shrug and say to myself at least I can fix it in my stories.
As for Lex losing his memories, well, it was the only way Clark would ever be safe.
And Tess! OMG they killed her off. I kind of knew they would, and I'm sad about that. It took me a while to warm up to her, and I liked her this season.
And yes, a Chlollie baby!
I was jumping up and down all through the episode. An epic way to end the series! And I've been there since day one! It's so hard to believe it has been a major part of my life for ten years and now it's over (on tv anyway).

Yeah, I think they did it for the plot but it doesn't really make sense. 7 years is a long time. But yes, fanfic is there to fix what canon messed up on. ;D

Very true. I can understand it, but it felt like a copout.

I kind of knew that they would, especially at Lex's hands, but it still sucked. She was great this season, though I have loved her for quite a while. Never more than this year though. :D

I know! I'm quite pleased with the Chlollie baby.
