I'll see about uploading a film tonight, one that my dad lent me. I'm keeping it a surprise until the post, but he described it as Shosanna and Fredrick go to Shanghai.
I hope so, too! Like with the fanmixes, films uploaded to box.net don't take long to download and will be up for 30 days at a time, so that'll make it easier. I do know how it is to be kept busy and all, though. I have documentaries and films to help me with research for a project, so I have quite a bit to read and watch, along with trying to meet the demands of working on all things Sho/Fred (and working and sleeping fit in there, too).
It's a very poetic film, though the couple didn't affect me as much as Shosanna/Fredrick. However, their equivalent of the projection booth scene is very powerful.
I pretty much knew that the response to this would be positive, but I was delighted about setting up a poll and everything!
And this way, I can interact with everyone more, as I've been either making graphics, sleeping, working, or researching. I have so much to unleash upon all of you!
This will be the first time I watch the film I'm uploading, too. I'm going to have a look at it now so I can make screencaps. My dad lent it to me and he made me watch a particular scene he loves which rivals the projection booth scene.
I'M EXCITED. I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF TO SHARE WITH YOU ALL.
\O/ Hey you, piecesofalice and me should totally get together in an lj and watch IB and make funny comments as we watch the movie. I do this with a couple of friends while we watch Glee and Community (and lately Skins) and IT IS AWESOME.
Purple Butterfly, starring Ziyi Zhang. She's part of a resistance group, Purple Butterfly, in Japanese occupied Shanghai in the 1930s. Her former lover is Japanese and has become an officer with secret police group, and he's assigned the task of dismantling Purple Butterfly.
I've been re-visiting quite a bit of Asian cinema, some of which I'll borrow from my dad, such as Lady Vengeance.
With a different director and especially a different lead (like Bruce Campbell) that really could have been something. There is so much to like in that movie and Lauren Holly is adorable but in the end it's an Andrew Dice Clay project and is as terrible as that sounds.
I first thought I would just watch a little of it, but I sat there and absorbed every minute. And God help me, I laughed at some parts.
Lauren Holly, Vince Neil, that ZuZu Petals, Robert Englund, Gilbert Godfried, and Ed O'Neil as a former disco singer turned detective were all extremely entertaining for me, but all of the women throwing themselves at ADC, along with the rampant misogyny and the forced relationship with the kid (Oh, look, he has a heart after all!) were irredeemable.
With Bruce, it would've been amazing, especially to see him go head to head with Wayne Newton, of all people.

And for some reason, I'm watching The Adventures of Ford Fairlaine. Renny Harlin definitely has an eye for aesthetics.

Your voting against this would have caused me to stamp my feet and decide that no, I will not post films because germanpanther says so.
